Last week on the morning talk show "The View" Rosie O'Donnell advocated for the conspiracy view of the 9/11 attacks on the World Trade Center, saying “I do believe that it’s the first time in history that fire has ever melted steel."
Preston Taylor Holmes notes that, in fact, fire is pretty much what's always been used to melt steel.
Which leads to this week's poll question.

That's pretty funny, and a
That's pretty funny, and a pretty supid remark, too. But that blog post you link to is offensive, calling her a terrorist, among other things.
I get it...
But that blog post you link to is offensive, calling her a terrorist, among other things.
I can see why people would imply Rosie is a terrorist. Her views on Israel and on the 911 attack have a lot to do with how she is perceived. Maybe she is just deluded. Crazy, obsessed, or dumber than a bag of rocks.
A few people think the U.S. government attacked New York and killed almost 3,000 people. Are they crazy? Obsessed? Or just dumber than a sack of hammers?
I don't understand how anyone can think what happen on 911 is anything other than the work of enemies of this country.
Barbara Walters and ABC should have fired Rosie O'Donnell on the spot on live television when she implied the buildings were blown up by Americans.
What is offensive is Rosie O'Donnell. I have no idea why anyone would defend her for any reason.
I'm not defending her. I'm
I'm not defending her. I'm sick of Americans calling each other terrorists and traitors. But as you note, she's essentially doing the same thing. Personally, I've long thought that she's basically stupid and irrelevant. But that doesn't make her a terrorist.
i believe they are enemies
i believe they are enemies of this country too, but not the ones that the media makes you hate,
and heaven forbid you say anything against "Isis-Ra-El", you are automatically an anti-semite and a holocaust denier.
"The nation which indulges towards another an habitual hatred, or an habitual fondness, is in some degree a slave." - G. Washington farewell address
"The government sometimes participates in the national propensity, and adopts through passion what reason would reject; at other times, it makes the animosity of the nation subserviant to projects of hostility, instigated by pride, Ambition, and other sinister and pernicious motives. The peace often, sometimes perhaps the liberty of nations, has been the victim" -G. Washington same speech
i dont think that the entire government conspired to do 911, but i do think that a small group of high powered folks had atleast some kinda of foreknowledge of things about to happen, and allowed them to take place to set forward an agenda that wouldnt have been tolerated if there wasnt an attack of that magnitude, with a propaganda campaign that followed it.
"Further, the process of transformation,
even if it brings revolutionary change, is
likely to be a long one, absent some
catastrophic and catalyzing event – like a
new Pearl Harbor."
PNAC Rebuilding americas defenses pdf
but i am just nuts i guess, lord knows governments/religions throughout time have never done things to their own populace to keep them scared and in-line and following party/religious doctrines unquestionably....take your soma... all is well:)
I had a different comment
I had a different comment for this, but I found this link

PM looks to have done some homework here.
Personally, I blame
Personally, I blame Ragsdale.
As usual, it is helpful to
As usual, it is helpful to go see what they REALLY said.
In the YouTube clip referenced in the PM article, Rosie O'Donnel is asked the question: "Do you believe that the U.S. government had anything to do with 9/11, that there was a conspiracy?" Her answer: "No" but there was a but with the rhetorical (and stupid) remark about fire and steel to make a point that nobody has explained WTC7 (which also seems pretty stupid).
When asked again "who do you think is resonsible for that?", her answer is "I have no idea."
So she is not calling any Americans terrorists.
P.S. And "The View" is obviously the first place everyone should go for intelligent discussion of U.S. foreign policy and the war in Iraq. Sheesh.
"A few people think the U.S.
"A few people think the U.S. government attacked New York and killed almost 3,000 people. Are they crazy? Obsessed? Or just dumber than a sack of hammers?"
Probably some of the same people who think the government blew up the New Orleans levees.
I can see why people would
I can see why people would imply Rosie is a terrorist.
Really? You think every person who says something dumb and over the top is a terrorist? Doctor, heal thyself.
Your addiction...
Really? You think every person who says something dumb and over the top is a terrorist? Doctor, heal thyself.
has the better of you.
Levees
CBT, I agree that the folks who think the govt blew up the levees are paranoid and off base. OTOH, the local govt DID blow up the levees in 1927 to spare New Orleans from the big flood. The result was disasterous flooding downstream. So I can kind of understand why such a thought might cross some folks' minds.
Probably some of the same
In 1927, they sure as hell did.
So it's not like there's not a precedent for that sort of thing, CBT.

Let's see
If I have this correct, it is inconceivable that the government could be complicit in the one time deaths of 3,000 Americans but, it is good government that keeps us an auto centric society even though automobile incidents claim about 17 times that many lives every year. Do I have that about right? Can any of you see the facetiousness of your arguments?
It is likely that the government had no active role in IX/XI however, it is possible, if not probable, that certain inactions made the attack possible. Prior knowledge and intent will be difficult to prove one way or the other but, from my view point, neither position is automatically rediculous.

honest men
Heat-induced buckling is a perfectly satisfactory explanation for why the towers collapsed. With all the unanswered questions about 9/11, it's sad that people get distracted with nonsense about the buildings being blown up.
When it's all said and done, I'm just glad the President and Vice have enough respect for the Bible that they refuse to touch it and take an oath of honesty. It says so much about both men that their commitment to the truth is so pure that they consider themselves unworthy of being in the same room with it.
Five quick questions
For those who are skeptics, good for you. We should all do our own research in regards to what is happing in our country. Five quick questions that can get your research started are as follows:
1) What was George H.W. Bush talking about in this clip? (link...)
2 )What did Marvin Bush (George’s brother) do before and the years leading up to September, 11th?
3) Who were the tenants of World Trade Center Building 7?
4) How did building 7 fall?
5) Can you find video that shows a plane hitting the Pentagon?*
*Not the 5 frames released from the government that show a vapor trail. Remember, this building is the hub of our national defense. There should be video of showing a discernable plane. Please provide the link if you find it.
Remember, it’s not your party that’s worth fighting for – it’s your country.
All that is necessary for evil to succeed is that good men do nothing; EDMUND BURKE
5) Can you find video that
5) Can you find video that shows a plane hitting the Pentagon?
No. But I can give you the name of someone my wife worked with in Arlington who was sitting in her car, stopped in rush hour traffic on the GW Parkway, with a few hundred other people, about 200 yards away from and in clear view of the Pentagon, when A REALLY BIG FUCKING PLANE FLEW 50 FEET OVER HER HEAD AND SMASHED INTO IT.
the rapture won't be televised, either...
will someone please tell knoxviews member "browse for answers," a member for some 57 minutes and 58 seconds, that the citing a conspiracy to explain the absence of footage of the plane hitting the pentagon is consistent with:
1: that the light in the fridge really doesn't go off when you shut the door.
2: that the tree didn't make a sound in the forest when it fell because no one was there.
I have more bad news, oh browser for answers. The rapture will not be televised, either. (warning, audio file, but completely work safe.)
answer my questions
Pick one of the 5 - and answer it.
Ok, I'll play - at least for the moment
According to Wikipedia, "7 World Trade Center housed Salomon Smith Barney; American Express Bank International; Standard Chartered Bank; Provident Financial Management; ITT Hartford Insurance Group; First State Management Group, Inc.; Federal Home Loan Bank; and NAIC Securities.
The government agencies housed at 7 World Trade Center were the Secret Service, the Department of Defense, the Immigration and Naturalization Service, the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), the Mayor's Office of Emergency Management, the Internal Revenue Service Regional Council (IRS), and the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA)."
And your point is?

A good resource is (link...) It’s an easy place to find a quick company history during the corporate scandal era of the late 90’s early 2000’s. (link...)
It’s a Dem site, but the company histories check out. Wiki is also a good source. Pay special attention to the actions of Standard Chartered Bank as they are a member of the Federal Reserve Bank.
Had corporate malfeasance investigations continued, the market as we know it now – would not exist. Your pensions, 401k’s, mortgages, savings, insurance policies, etc. would all be ruined.
Who had oversight over all these investigations, the records and paperwork? The Securities and Exchange Commission.
As for the Secret Service, Department of Defense, IRS and CIA? Well, they’re a Girl Scout troop.
Where's the video?
I can’t drive through an intersection without being recorded. One of the worlds most secure buildings and I have to rely on your wife’s Aunt Sally’s nephew’s hair dresser for her eyewitness account?
