Saw this headline in the Maryville Daily Times and was a little disappointed.

The good news, though, is that they are negotiating with Ruth's Chris Steak House. So at least it won't be a Ruby's on the River or something. Ruth's Chris is pretty nice and that would be a fabulous location for them.

Sandy Beall is quoted in the Maryville Daily Times article: "It's a high-quality restaurant chain and they treat each location like a locally owned and operated restaurant. They have a solid management team, and it would be fantastic for Knoxville."

My understanding was that at

My understanding was that at one point, the restaurant was considering Market Square (in the space where Brazo's was, next to the walk through area into the back of the Miller's/KUB building) and in Turkey Creek.

?

I checked the daily times url you linked to twice to make sure this wasn't a belated April Fools. Remember your "artios.blogspot.com" vs. atrios ruse?

IMO, Riverside Tavern has slipped in the last few years. menu is boring, service not so hot. Regas, however, is as good as ever, and now that it is nonsmoking, even better.

BTW, the menu at the Bistro on Gay Street is kickin'. It is also nonsmoking. -- our new fav. Recommend going around 8:15 on show nights.

I also agree the earlier

I also agree the earlier comments in that the menu is a little pedestrian. I can't offer anything other than positive about the server staff. Bartenders aren't very effective in my opinion.

We had dinner at Riverside

We had dinner at Riverside Tavern recently. We had a reservation, but they "lost it" so we had to wait about 45 minutes.

The food was pedestrian, but I always thought it was. My "medium" beef came blood red and oozing. At least it's easier to send it back to cook some more than to trash it if it's well done.

Our waiter was terrible. Nice guy and he tried, but damn he either was awfully green or just dumb. Like Schultz, he knew noth-think. When the spouse asked about dessert wine, he turned white and then started talking about the regular wine list. Didn't seem to know what port was either.

All in all, reminded me why I seldom go there.

He's next to the water, and doesn't know what port is?

You'd think they'd give them at least a little training in boats ;-)

x2. One of our favorites. Superb wait staff too. They don't call us "guys" after every three words, if at all. Damn I tire of that.
