Jonathan Wimmer says that Lumpy Lambert offered him a seat on County Commission in exchange for his vote for Lee Tramel. The Knoxville News Sentinel has the details.
Wimmer refused the deal on ethical grounds. He should have taken it. Tramel was a lock. Now the 2nd District has Bolus and Democrats give up a seat to the Hutchison Republicans. Besides, since when does Knox County government involve ethics?
In other news, Ragsdale accused of strong-arm tactics. Looks like Hutchison has the stronger arm.

Chief Deputies
Now that J.J. has Tim, how long will it be before the rest of the fee officers slap the voters in the face ? Will Fred hire Mike ? Will Sherry hire Steve ? Will Billy hire Mike ? John Whitehead has gotten by with hiring Parkey @ $70,000 plus since he was elected, so why won't the rest try??
git yur boots
Asked about the recesses, during which reporters mingled with commissioners as they tried to persuade each other how to vote, Moore responded that the breaks had innocent purposes.
"I think a lot of them were for bathroom breaks," he said. "Some people needed to get up and stretch."
I guess the shit really was getting deep over there.
I heard or read somewhere
I heard or read somewhere that Mark Cawood has landed a salaried job with Knox County, forget what the position is. Did I read that somewhere here in a comment, or...? Anyone else heard that?
Me and Sheriff Jones got a thing going on.....
Sheriff Jones has hired Cawood as a bailiff.
Cawood
You're kidding! -- s.
Kidding aside
If Martha Dooley's position ever becomes available, I bet the sheriffs (Is that the correct grammer for multiple positions?) wouldn't have to twist any arms over there, eh Sandy?
Wimmer
Wimmer waited a day to reveal Lambert's offer. Why wait? Wimmer seemed concerned about making enemies and losing any chance at holding public office in the future. He seems ambitious, which was his problem in the election last year. His platform was "I'm electable", which is not much of a platform in a local race.
Cawoods
So we can now add Commissioner Sharon Cawood to the list of commissioner that have family working for the shurf.

Are you calling me out on this, nameless?
Don't you think I could have wangled a p.r. job over the past 40 years instead of selling want ads at the Shopper in order to publish -- if I had wanted to?
I just declined a one-on-one interview with the new sheriff. My loyalty is to the old sheriff, not the new one. - s.
moi?
I'm not calling you out, dear. I am sure you could do better if you want. You might have some insider knowledge as to what is going on, but I think the majority of Knox County knows who's calling the shots.
My loyalty is to the old sheriff, not the new one. - s.
Like there is a difference?
Meet the new boss, same as the old boss.
Somebody told me there was a
Somebody told me there was a new office complete with a large flat panel TV set up in a hurry for Hutch in the City-County building. Anybody seen it? Do we need to donate him some DVD's?

Wow
Wow, I can't believe you can find fault with Wimmer's story not coming out for a day. That is amazing. What he did took guts, he stuck his neck out, and you are complaining that it wasn't fast enough for you. Get real.
What should we expect?
We would all do well to stop and remember that Wednesday was all about politics. In every political situation there are winners and losers. And each side thinks it believes it is doing the right thing. It is the system by which our Country is run.
We each will have the opportunity to vote in 2008 on each appointee. If you don't like what happened Wednesday, campaign against them, work against them, and vote against them. Wednesday was really our own fault. It is up to us, the voters, to enforce term limits. If we choose, we don't have to re-elect anyone, ever. All the name calling and mud-slinging does not produce any positive results.
The only true way to hold any politician accountable is to vote.
