Reddog warned us that the draft was trying to be reinstated. Rangel has now introduced the bill. I have posted a couple of additional quotes and links the most important being a link to contact your representative.

In 2003, Rangel introduced HR 163; legislation that would draft both men and women between the ages of 18-26 starting as early as June 2005. It was defeated 402-2 the following year in the House of Representatives, with Rangel voting against his own bill. [Source]

Now we're talkin'! Perfesser

Now we're talkin'! Perfesser Reynolds suggests mandatory service...in a militia, along with compulsory arms bearing.

Roy Edroso notes:

One wonders why the Perfesser didn't tap into a more potent symbol of armed self-reliance: The Black Panthers of California. Back in the day they cheerfully exercised what was then the right of all Cali citizens -- open carry -- until Governor Ronald Reagan freaked out on whitey's behalf and signed the Mulford Act removing that right in 1967.

I am more for a manditory Reserve Force

Where everyone would have to serve no matter what age. That way the government would be able to tap people with many skills without the cost of training them such as doctors, mechanics, cooks, legal, instructor, etc. The military needs people from all professions so why not just tap the people that are already trained. The military use very few people that actually carry a gun or fight, most of it is just support.
