OK, it's not a murder case or anything, but the Adam Groves interviews are like a Law and Order episode, especially the part where Briscoe and Green get the alleged perp in the interview room and start sweating him.
I can feel sorry for Adam. He seems like a good guy, and he seems to be trying, for good or ill, to protect his friend Tyler Harber while at the same time distancing himself from the whole affair (assuming he told them everything he knows). And the detectives just keep hammering him.
Excerpts after the jump illustrate what I'm talking about, but you really ought to read the whole thing for the full Law and Order effect...
CB: what do you know about Cas Walker.com?
AG: Db (ed. note: uh?)
CB: now that's a website?
AG: yes, uh, it uh, uh,
CB: Where'd you....where was that registered through DJ? California?
DJ: I don't remember now
CB: Ok.
AG: Db, I
AG: I know that it was web site that was dedicated to rumors, uh,
CB: what was your involvement in it?
AG: Uh
CB: It's time to be real honest.
AG: Yeah, 00, I helped Tyler set it up on the website and 00, and I didn't
do any ofthe postings, 00, he uh, he did some ofthat
CB: He did the majority of it that was slamming Jamie didn't he?
AG; I don't know that there were many entries that were slamming Jamie
uh,
CB: where they were talking
AG: maybe one
CB: about getting bills passed by giving blow jobs? That's not slamming?
AG: I don't recall those exact words, but if that was .. .ifthat was the case
then that was what was on there
CB: Tyler had you set that up
AG: He 00, he had me set up the web...the website itself
CB: But you didn't do any ofthe posting?
AG: that's correct .. .I didn't do any ofthe...I didn't post anything to the
website
CB: Where would it be...where would it be...where would Tyler post
from?
AG: I don't know, uh, I assume his house.
CB: Where all does Tyler have computers?
[..]
CB: But if you are not truthful with us, then you become an (inaudible)
after. ..who was the poor lady that just wasn't truthful and ended up
going to jail.. .Martha Stewart ....and the comment over there was was
not an idle comment ...the FBI is involved in this ...this is some
serious stuff...this is.. .I hope to walk out of here and leave you here
today hoping your truthful with us...but you've got to be truthful with
us, Adam, and this is your opportunity...so I'm going to go back to
what are some ofthe things that your aware of that Tyler's done when
you made that comment on Monday...we know that he has you set up
the website...you all didn't get permission from Cas Walker's heirs to
do that ...that was done off your computer. ...what else has
Tyler ...some ofthe folks that we've talked to were of the opinion that
your not a bad guy
AG: Uhhuh
CB: I haven't formed an opinion yet but because I don't think your being
truthful with me...you know, one person mentioned that they would
like to see you do well.. J hope you do well just because that's what
I've been taught to hope for all people .. .ifyour not truthful with us,
things aren't going to gowell ...now, what else has Tyler done or had
you do that you know is not ethical, proper or legal?
[..]
DJ: I mean we're not here to make you nervous, uh, ifwe wanted to make
you nervous we would have picked you up and took you downtown,
you know, we ...or had you know, had you come downtown or
something like that you know, I mean we thought ifwe come and talk
to you here you'd be more comfortable talking to us in your own
home... all we're trying to do is get to the truth, we're not trying to
accuse you or anyone else of anything they didn't do
AG: Right.
DJ: but you know, we've got to get to the truth and and I don't feel like
we're getting that from you by a long shot.
AG: Uh
(Ed. Note: Does anyone else find it curious that they've got all kinds of statements and interviews from everyone except Tyler Harber?)
