Same-sex couples apparently don't deserve adequate counsel.

Huddleston - no concept of equal access to the law

Huddleston's upset because the ABA is offering practice seminars on how to protect the rights of persons in a committed relationship. Since the automatic protections of marriage aren't available for gays, other legal means are taught so that when it comes to funerals, hospitalizations and wills, partners aren't left out in the cold (literally). It's one thing for Huddleston to have personal feelings about social issues and being an attorney doesn't change that. However, the bedrock principle of equality under the law should be one of the foremost objectives of anyone who professes to be an attorney.

So I suppose Huddleston would prefer for the national professional organization to mirror his superior socially conservative views, i.e. God as lawmaker as depicted in Leviticus. Sheesh.

Can you imagine living in a society actually grounded in Mosaic law?

In this day & age, we'd cringe if someone were to throw his own child on the barbecue, but change the names of the particulars to "Abraham" and "Isaac"...

The belief system which supports Huddleston's (sadly enough, garden variety) outrage is incomprehensible to me.

I would wonder about the "adequate counsel".

He has plugged in all the right things on his blog for an upwardly mobile lawyer in Knoxville (favorite books, music, and links) and dropped the names of a couple of "luminaries".

His blog is obviously the product of another "Christian" who conveniently ignores the red text, supposedly the very words of the man he claims to follow.

As William Shakespeare said, "He wears his faith but as the fashion of his hat."

He will do well in this town.

No kidding...this is true for so many Christians around Knox County, that's for sure.

It figures...

He has a link to Ann Coulter's blog on his site as well...just another bigoted Republican whose only real concern is how something is of benefit to him and him alone.
