Kinda off the political radar, but does it piss anyone else off how in the last 10 or so years we have gone straight into Christmas the day after Halloween? Merchants can't seem to wait until the 4th Friday of November anymore before cramming the Holiday season down our throat. I am not trying to be a Scrooge, I just don't like how Thanksgiving is being pushed aside because Christmas is better for the economy.

I was at Kohls a few days ago and they already had xmas music piped in through the intercom/sound system.

Mmmm....Pie....Pumpkin pie!

Guess I won't shop Kohls this year. Too bad...maybe they can get off the list in time.

365

I think we should have Christmas 365 days of the year. Every radio station should play Christmas songs 24-7, from the classics to U2. Christmas shopping should be a national pastime as we change our name to the United States of Christmas.

Amerigo Vespuci is irrelevant anyway.

I agree. Thanksgiving is now

I agree. Thanksgiving is now just the small speedbump on the road from Halloween to Christmas.

Walmart

And of course I love how Walmart is getting back to the "real meaning of Christmas" through a heavy marketing program of yet more cheap, plastic, religious-themed crap made in China.

At our house we insulate ourselves from commercialism by using as many heirloom, home-made, or natural decorations as possible. And we're not even Christian....

WE shall drink no wine

  • WE shall drink no wine before we're thirsty...

Too early in the morning but not bad...

  • Swill White: Smoking Loon Chardonnay 2004  (California)
  • White: Scioppetto Pinot Gris 2003 (Friuli-Venezia)
  • Swill Red: Perrin Reserve 2004 or, the house wine, Vielle Ferme 2004 (Cotes Du Rhone)
  • Red: Chateau Haut Glanet Bourdeaux 2005 (Goes without saying)
  • Rose: Havana Malbec 2005 (Mendoza, Argentina)
  • Never had smoked loon...The wintering population is starting to show up on Watts Bar Lake now. Quite a treat for a kayaker.
