My friends,
Please, do not waste this opportunity. Do not waste this opportunity to lose like an adult. Do not wail and cry and most especially do not blame the Democrats; we must blame ourselves.
We have to accept the fact that the conservatives we sent to Congress in 1994 became the bloated, earmarking, spineless toads of 2006. We were promised small government, fiscal responsibility, “family reinforcement” and the "citizen legislature act." What we eventually got was big government, social-engineering programs, big deficits, pork-barrel spending, lobbying and sex scandals. These Republicans betrayed the principles we sent them to strengthen…and President Bush enabled them to do so. Over time, the president confirmed something we have been feeling for quite a while: he’s not truly a conservative. The man didn’t even put ink in his veto pen for six years. Don’t get me wrong, we expect this kind of irresponsibility from socialists, Muslim terrorist appeasers and Democrats (redundant, I know) and they never disappoint, which is why Congress will not be lead by them for long. But we expect more from Republicans. Unfortunately, they thought they could do their will rather than that of their constituents and now they have been thrown out. Democracy is self-correcting. Ask John Kerry.
And as evidenced by the president’s low approval numbers, much of the base was displeased with the Iraq war, not because it’s not a just and moral war –it is, of course - but because it hasn’t been promulgated properly. The conservatives are less concerned with “winning the hearts and minds of Iraqis” and more concerned with, y’know, winning a war, protecting America and defeating an evil ideology determined to establish an Islamic caliphate (but this is only according to the terrorists themselves. Jack Abu Al Murtha and the rest of the leftist cabal seem to think these guys are just joking.)
Unfortunately, this administration is concerned with conducting a war on the cheap and handing back areas of the country to terrorists who had weeks before been driven out.
Remember, the most important election we are ever likely to see in our lives was not this election. It was President Bush's re-election in 2004 and we got it. Be grateful for that, acknowledge that we lost this election rather than the Democrats winning it, because there aren’t many people who vote for their own taxes to be raised, abject surrender to the enemy in war, disastrous socialist programs and two years of manufactured scandals.
No, my friends, this loss is no one's fault but our own. I certainly hope the Republicans do a lot of soul-searching, realize what went wrong and do the things they must do to make sure this doesn’t happen again.
My warmest regards to you all.
Ps. Notice how there aren’t battalions of Republican lawyers claiming “rigged voting machines” are responsible for their losses. Dems should take note.
Pps. It’s not a total loss, at least locally. Ford was defeated and Amendment 1 passed incredibly easily, affirming that not all the states had lost a semblance of sanity.

Hey, you know what?
Hey, you know what? Democrats are tired of being called cowards and terrorist appeasers. Democrats aren't creating a breeding ground for terrorists with a failed Iraq policy. Democrats aren't institutionalizing torture. Democrats aren't going on TV calling Republicans in the Bush administration war criminals. Maybe they should.
Anyway, if you wonder why people are tired of the GOP bullshit, maybe you ought to consider your own stupid letter and that half of America is tired of being called cowards and traitors. Way to sell a message. I guess you are taking your cues from the "uniter not a divider." Whatever.
Hey, you know what?
Hey, you know what? Democrats are tired of being called cowards and terrorist appeasers.
Um, maybe they should consider not being cowards and terrorist appeasers, then. Just a thought.
Democrats aren't creating a breeding ground for terrorists with a failed Iraq policy.
Er, didn't the Democrats in Congress vote for the war in Iraq? I mean, right before they voted against it, but still...
And did they ever present a different policy plan for Iraq? Other than "immediate withdrawal," er, I mean, "immediately redeploying to nearby Okinawa," of course.
Democrats aren't institutionalizing torture.
I keep hearing you guys say this, but you don't seem to be able to produce any evidence of torture other than a dozen or so now-prosecuted yahoos who took it upon themselves to put panties on the heads of Islamic terrorists captured on the battlefield. Unless, as Dick Turban asserted on the floor of the Senate, 'forcing Islamic terrorists to listen to loud rap music in a chilly room' is equivalent to Pol Pot's Khmer Rouge torture techniques. That's not torture. Making Islamic terrorists watch reruns of Will & Grace, now that's approaching torture.
Anyway, if you wonder why people are tired of the GOP bullshit, maybe you ought to consider your own stupid letter...
My letter is entirely accurate. I'm afraid the truth remains true even if you don't affirm it. Sorry.
Have a great day!

You know what? Beat it. You can't come here and call the people at this site and half of America cowards and terrorist appeasers. We have been very patient with your bullshit. No more. Take it to Free Republic or a White House press conference or some place else.

Let's see. It's the fault of the GOP Congress, the President, and Republican voters. And they're the only good people in this country.

My warmest regards to you all.
The feelings are mutual.
And please review the Clinton years for manufactured scandals. Bob Barr tried to start impeachment proceedings in, what-- 1992? The far right base, Jerry Falwell and others, peddled videotapes back in, what--1993?, that accused Clinton of running a murder ring in Arkansas. And this was just warm up. Yet after all that, Dems buried the hatchet and agreed to expire the special prosecutor statute that the GOP had abused throughout the '90s, even though it could be used now against W.
As for the recent scandals, don't bother separating fact from spin. You're hopeless.
Your rant is quite funny as satire, though. Yeah, that must be it.

Adrift in the Sea of Humility
Perspective....Democrats
Perspective....Democrats changed 28 out of 224 Republican seats in the House and 6 out of 55 in the Senate. That's a big shift in D.C. (leadership, committees, bill passage, etc.), but doesn't indicate complete abandonment of the Republcan Party. It's a strong message that the Republican Party better pay attention to. But, if Democrats get all full of themselves and commit many of the same sins, voters can just as easily turn the tide back to the right.
I still think moderates on both sides will rule the day on landmark issues. I guess we'll see.
Moderation
That would certainly be a welcome shift away from the cesspool of the last five years. It's hard to imagine any definition of "moderate" that would condone the suspension of habeas corpus, the legitimization of torture, tax cuts for oil companies and billionaires, the appointment of radical extremists to the federal bench, illegal wiretapping, and attempts to enshrine bigotry in our Constitution.
"Moderation" would be a breath of fresh air.

Playing the voice of reason now, hm?
Here's a newsflash: "Leftism" as a functioning, popular political philosophy never, EVER existed in this country. The "evil liberal" is a figment of the Borg collective who publish their bulk-buy books through Regnery and who assemble their notions from The Protocols of the Elders of Zion, Atlas Shrugged, and the most solid bits of their own stool.
Leftism will continue not to exist in the forms imagined by the Regnery Borg and its adherents. That won't stop them from flinging around crap like "Al Qaeda has won a big victory."
(You seem to have a lot more free time to post on blogs these days. Is it just coincidence, or are you feeling your oats because of your party's big win in the 18th State House district?)

I've been reading this blog (which is about the only one I read regularly) more because of the elections, etc. Glad you noticed. I'll go back to occasional reading and posting in a day or two.
I've always been a moderate on most issues. I get a reputation because I've been a GOP Party Chairman. So, you get hung with anyone who has an "R" by their name. You just can't get to know much about a person by these blog posts. Plus, most are anonymous.
Regardless of disagreements on issues that some may have with Campfield, he did face a strong challenge and should be congratulated on a double digit win. Campfield should get the credit.

Thinking cave-dwelling adherents to a medieval interpretation of Islam have the slightest chance in hell of taking over America is cowardice in need of a diaper change. Sounds like appeasement to me. The Bush administration has done more for terrorist recruitment than they ever could have done on their own, and he radically changed the character of our nation so that instead of being admired, we are now feared and distrusted. The terrorists never could have accomplished that. In fact, their most spectacular attack had exactly the opposite effect until the cowboy from Yale and his bedwetter brigade humiliated America and soiled her proud tradition.
