It looks like the Corker campaign battleship has taken a torpedo to the port bow and it's all hands on deck. While Corker desperately tries to patch up the hole with $2 million of his own money, Karl Rove has apparently been dispatched to try to right the ship.

Sources tell us Rove was spotted in Nashville yesterday, presumably en route to Corker's campaign office. Corker's latest "investment" and the invisible hand of Rove taking over the helm suggest big trouble for Corker's campaign. They must be seeing some very troubling numbers. Apparently, Jimmy Haslam and Tom Ingram aren't getting it done so the GOP had to send in The Closer.

Does this mean they think Missouri and Virginia are in the bag so they're repositioning assets, or are they giving up there and making a last stand in Tennessee? Only Bush's Brain knows for sure.

Either way, our sources suggest that the GOP Southern Strategy and Rove's Firewall operations have come down to the Tennessee Senate race and they are pulling out all the stops. One thing we do know for sure is that Democrats must get out the vote to win in Tennessee, especially with Rove in town.

UPDATE: Volunteer Voters says re. Rove visit to Nashville:

Talked to Todd Womack, campaign spokesman for Corker and former Mayor of Chattanooga, a bit ago and he tells me that this is a fabrication.

He has no knowledge of Karl Rove being in Nashville and the man has no role, advisory or otherwise, in the campaign.

UPDATE: From Michael Silence:

We are told that Rove has not been in TN, at least not for the Corker campaign. From Corker campaign political director Todd Womack: Karl Rove has had no advisory role in this campaign and certainly has not been in the state visiting with us. I don’t think he’s been in the state at all” except during the Bush visit.

Nah...

He's just here to make sure all the new electronic voting machines are "properly" programmed.

Boogity boogity!

ES&S

Davidson Co purchased the crappy ES&S machines, so the possibility is not as remote as with the eSlate machines. The concerns over Diebold and ES&S machines are quite valid and well documented. Of course, it's silly to think Rove gets his hands dirty with computer code. He probably had some Microsoft-certified BoyToy with him.

debunk?

VolVoters reports that the Cork-uh campaign is denying that Rove is involved. Perhaps he is working with the invading 527's then? Deniability is worth something nowdays....or is ACK just buying the Cork-uh spin?

Hm. looks like MSM_Mike is buying it too. It'd be sweet to hear more about it....

You do know the Corker

You do know the Corker campaign has refuted this charge and that today's Reuters/Zogby poll puts Corker up by 10?

1) Denial and refutation

1) Denial and refutation aren't the same thing. Corker also maintains that he had nothing to do with the RNC sponsored Bimbo Ad. Right.

2) Zogby has Corker up by 10, huh? Did you believe Zogby when he said that Tennessee was going to go into the Kerry column in 2004?

Don't you people get it?!

Bob Corker is Mr. Average Tennessean because he attended UT!  He's just like you and me.  He just peels a few more millions of dollars out of his wallet anytime he needs to, in order to buy his Senate seat convince people he's rooted as a real Tennessean!  Are we too dense to figure it out on our own?

Surely you're not discounting wealthy from serving ably?

Surely you're not asserting that a wealthy person cannot ably serve in representative gov't? If so, there shouldn't be a Dem in the Senate (or a majority of the House).

But as Donald Trump wrote, "Life is a game, and money is how we keep score." Unless you inherited your wealth (again, note Dems in the Senate), the fact that you've been successful shouldn't count against someone's ability to lead, influence, etc. Right?

"Life is a game, and money

"Life is a game, and money is how we keep score."

And politics is how we cheat.

Corker's wealth is not the issue so much as the ways he has used political ties to enrich himself. He won't release his full tax forms. He nullified a conservation easement for his own benefit and just spent a bunch of money to settle a related lawsuit and avoid giving a deposition.

It sure looks like he is trying to hide some of his wealth, and buried secrets can definitely influence a person's ability to lead and influence.

btw, spare me the knee-jerk partisanship. I'm fully aware that Ford and many federal Dems are similarly compromised. Elections that demand multimillion-dollar advertising budgets tend to compromise everyone involved.

Corker Campaign Is Property of The White House and RNC

It is completely out of Bob Corker's, Tom Ingram's, and Todd Womack's control. The White House will direct all aspects of the remainder of the campaign through election day and into the recounts and the legal proceedings which are expected to follow. The RNC legal team has been in Nashville and Memphis scouting out the landscape to launch objections and claims regarding recounts, improper voting techniques, vote buying, improper voter registration claims and the like.

Rove has been in Nashville today and will be in Memphis tonite getting a feel for how the operatives are holding up under extremely difficult circumstances.

Frist has delivered the AMA Political Action Committee and may deliver a couple more politcal action committees over the weekend to shore up Corker's media buys and try and price the Ford campaign out of the media market in East Tennessee.

And I remember the

<>

And I remember the Reuters/Zogby exit polling on Election Day 2004 proclaiming John Kerry was going to be elected the next President of the United States. Zogby said in the aftermath he "thought he had captured a trend". Yeah, right.

Race not an issue?

Don't be so sure that it hasn't worked.

Zogby poll confuses me.

Here are the Zogby/Reuters results from earlier compared to other polls:

Tennessee

SurveyUSA 10/07-10/09 Corker (R) 48% Ford (D) 46%
Hamilton Beattie 10/02-10/04 Ford (D) 51% Corker (R) 44%
USA Today/Gallup 09/27-10/01 Ford (D) 50% Corker (R) 45%
Reuters/Zogby 09/25-10/02 Ford (D) 40% Corker (R) 40%
Rasmussen 09/28-10/01 Ford (D) 48% Corker (R) 43%
Middle Tennessee State 09/19-09/30 Corker (R) 43% Ford (D) 42%
Mason-Dixon 09/25-09/27 Ford (D) 43% Corker (R) 42%

Even then, Zogby had Ford lower than Rasmussen does by 8%. Isn't Rasmussen supposed to be normally on target?

Rove @ play

Rove wins TN if the democrats & independents don't get out to vote. Polls don't mean anything. Votes and boots on the ground will win... don't fall for the generic polls
