As an alternative to the local papers' "best of" surveys, KnoxViews is conducting a "reader recommendations" survey. If there are enough responses, we may tally the "favorites", but the idea is to create a growing, dynamic local guide by locals for locals and visitors.

You don't have to enter a recommendation for every category, and your recommendations can appear in more than one category. You can also respond to the survey multiple times if you have more than one recommendation for a particular category.

NOTE: Most people are already familiar with the national chains, so it's probably not necessary to list them. Your recommendations should highlight local establishments if possible, unless the locals don't measure up in a category and your recommendation is the national chain.

If there's a category that we should have included, note it in comments and we will try to do a follow up section for "miscellaneous/other" categories.
