I am hoping that Nancy Pelosi is our new House Leader but I can't be positive until Nov. 3. I am fairly confident that Denny Hastert will not last much longer, one way or another and I hope it's "another". (Don't resign, Denny, please, please, please...Do it for the children!)
Pelosi is quoted as saying she'll make changes in her first 100 hours to "Drain the GOP swamp" as she puts it. I like the quote. I want to see the rules she is proposing for day one:
Day One: Put new rules in place to "break the link between lobbyists and legislation."
Day Two: Enact all the recommendations made by the commission that investigated the terrorist attacks of Sept. 11, 2001
I would put, "Reinstate the Fairness Doctrine" as Day three agenda. Ronald Reagan ending that is what brought us Fox news, all Republican All the time, lie all you want, TV. Let's go back to the good old days when if you told a lie on TV, somebody could come right back and call you a liar, same time, same station.

Fairness doctrine
I don't know . . . would that make a big difference?
These days, it seems like finding a good message and messengers is a bigger problem then getting access to airwaves.
Brian A.
I'd rather be cycling.
Boy Howdy, yes!
Day three, bring back the fairness doctrine.
Day two, institute the Paper Trail for Votes act, with a mandatory hand recount if the final tally is more than one percent different from the exit polls.

You're kidding, right ? The Fairness Doctrine was anything but, and anyone with an iq above room temperature knows it.
Whew!
So that must be why my thermostat is reading 142 all the damned time...

“The policy of the United States Federal Communications Commission that became known as the "Fairness Doctrine" is an attempt to ensure that all coverage of controversial issues by a broadcast station be balanced and fair.”
The key word is “broadcast” in that paragraph. The FCC has NO authority over cable or satellite.
They can only handle “those issues that are related to the public airwaves.”
Got it!
Actually, the FCC needs to get out of out lives. Let TV stations do what they want and if you don’t like it, don’t patronize their advertisers.
Your approach is more communistic; control what I hear and tell me what you only want me to hear.
A free market place leads to just that, freedom.
control what I hear and tell
But enough about Fox News...

What idiocy... the doctrine was an attempt to allow both sides to be heard from. This causes Conservatives a problem, of course, due to the obvious fact that the conservative case cannot be made by telling the truth, as that post so plainly demonstrates.

I have often it seems to be very similar to the wife in an abusive marriage. She won't leave George, not matter how bad she's beaten, but one day, she blows a twelve guage hole in him and feeds the carcass to the pigs.
i think I hear the sqealing of hungry pork...
