In view of a recent thread about DNC Chaiman Howard Dean "sucking" for allegedly not doing his job well, his counterpart at the RNC is now alleged to have arranged millions of dollars in federal funding in exchange for political contributions to Jack Abramoff's clients.  And that he's lying to cover it up.  Excerpt via TPM Muckraker:

In March, Mehlman told Vanity Fair, "Abramoff is someone who we don't know a lot about. We know what we read in the paper."

In related news, Abramoff's known contacts with the White House now number close to 500.  Didn't the White House press secretary say that it was closer to 2? (with added emphasis):

QUESTION: Can you be more specific about the contacts with the senior staff? You said you were going to get back to us on that.
MCCLELLAN: No, I did check. There were a few staff-level meetings. I think I previously indicated that he attended three Hanukkah receptions at the White House. It is actually only two Hanukkah receptions that he attended. … My understanding from the check that we did was that there are just a few staff-level meetings in addition to those. [White House Press Briefing, 1/17/06]

There's more at the link above, including how Ralph Reed got Karl Rove to quash a high level Dept. of Interior appointment that Abramoff didn't like.  They referred to the nominee, who was a wife of a former Vietnam POW who served along with John McCain, as "McCain's wife."

I'm so glad the GOP restored honor and dignity to the office of the Presidency.

And this proves that Howard

And this proves that Howard Dean doesn't suck?

In related news, Abramoff's known contacts with the White House now number close to 500.

I have no doubt that he had quite a bit of contact with the whitehouse but stats taken from his client billings are probably, err, inflated. If the guy has no issue taking big money illegally, I doubt he takes issue with overbilling his clients.

ETA: and tpmmuckraker? don't they have some unfounded republican pedophilia rumors to be spreading?

Of course, Hillary Clinton

Of course, Hillary Clinton had Vince Foster whacked. That's undeniable.

Non-sequitur. Straw man. Pick fancy edoomakasuhional term from high school debate team for 'what you said is fucking retarded and has no relevance to anything'

I think Les is right, you need a refund.

Are you sure you ought tobe

Are you sure you ought tobe talking about Melman's sexual persuasion like that? Just because he's gay is no reason to...wait...I get it...never mind.

Next thing you'll be saying this guy sucks, too!

Whoa. Foley resigned. Must

Whoa. Foley resigned. Must have got more dirt on him other than those emails.

Sucks doesn't it.

Only for the school, I imagine.

Leave the hard work to us.

Let's see some of it. All i see from you is vile rhetoric on par with when my 5 year-old nephews say nanny-nanny-boo-boo.

What exactly are your qualifications to speak on any matter other than a bad temper and paranoia?

I don't have a bad temper and I'm not paranoid. If I were, it beats being a self-righteous dweeb with delusions of adequacy. I can speak on any manner I choose. And you can too. that's the beauty of a free society.

Don't you have some rental rates in slovenia or some other crap no one cares about to be researching?

What is it that you do?

I think you're just about the only one here who doesn't know. I've met quite a few commenters here at SKB's get together. They know who I am and what I do.

I pay attention to many different markets. It's part of what I do for a living.

some unfounded republican pedophilia rumors

This just in! Republican Congressman Mark Foley has just thrown in the towel.

No, but everything's relative.

And this proves that Howard Dean doesn't suck?

Glad I stimulated some deep discussion.

(Oops.  Stimulated might not be the best word to use today.  TeeHeeHee.)

The House leadership knew

The House leadership knew about Foley last fall. But did absolutely nothing because, you know, they're such staunch defenders of due process.

Foley, as chairman of the Missing and Exploited Children's Caucus, had introduced legislation in July to protect children from exploitation by adults over the Internet. He also sponsored other legislation designed to protect minors from abuse and neglect.

"We track library books better than we do sexual predators," Foley has said.

And he once accused the Supreme Court of "siding with pedophiles over children."

Foley was a member of the Republican leadership, serving as a deputy whip. He also was a member of the House Ways and Means Committee.

I'll concede that this comes nowhere near the Dean Scream™.

Aieeeeee

This is all the more shocking, but too bad the GOP long ago reached the cognitive saturation stage with the public for scandals.

I'll concede that this comes nowhere near the Dean Scream™.

Or mispronouncing a common name like "Lambeau" Field.
