Gene Patterson has a scoop:

Bryson also says he was "nudged" by God to run for governor. On his last visit to our program, he explained that after talking with his wife and alot of prayer, he was led to his decision to run. I asked him directly today [ed. note: for a program that will air Sunday on WATE] if God told him to run, and his response was, yes God gave him a nudge.

After six years of Bush (and let's not even mention Pat Robertson), I'm growing a little leery of people who hear voices in their heads. Especially when it is the Voice of God. I wish God would tell some of these idiots to STFU.

It's one thing to be guided by your faith and to pray for guidance. It's an entirely different thing to suggest that you have been "chosen" (as Bush did - look it up), or to evangelize the fact that your prayers have been answered with guidance on your political campaign. I don't have a direct hotline to God by any means, but I'm pretty sure she doesn't care who's running for Governor of Tennessee.

A better approach might be to explain your positions and why they make you the better candidate. And if it's important to you (or you think it's important to voters), go ahead and put it in the context of your faith if you think it helps clarify or justify your position.

Either way, I'm pretty sure Jesus (the Son of God) would not approve of Bryson's positions on wages and health care. That stuff sounds more like Satan talking. And all this time I thought Satan was a Democrat. At least that's what I've been told.

Good article R. Neal, but...
Maybe God has talked to Bush, Robertson, Bryson, and we all remember Oral Roberts. And maybe God knows these people want what they seek so bad that they can taste it, and so he (or she, as SKB has suggested) has given these politicians, preachers or whomever, free will to seek what they desire, but has also given them enough rope to either pull theirselves out of the fire, or to hang themselves. We don't have to be prophets to know what generally happens. Personally, I'm a little leery of people who hear voices in their heads.

Exactly my thoughts

Exactly my thoughts Randy.

It really sucks that this method(Vote for me=Vote for Jesus) works so well. To cast your vote, you need not think all the issues through, nor be compelled to wade through a swamp the size of the Katrina aftermath, you simply need to be fired up enough to GO VOTE.

Shutting UP

I like the Susan B. Anthony quote also.

I wish God would tell some of these idiots to STFU.

Of course, if you're not listening it doesn't matter what God is telling you, you won't hear Him (or Her as you like to say).

OK, that settles it. I'm going to print up some "Heathens for Bredesen" bumper stickers.

Guess this means Bryson's going to add those 300,000 people back onto the state health care system, right?
