Reader survey results

Here are the reader survey results. Most readers are in their 40s, with 30s and 50s tied for second. Readers are predominately white (94%) males (61%), but women (39%) are well represented. Singles represent 32% of readers, equally divided among males and females (maybe we should have a matchmaker page?).

How do you define SES with households?

I would think the middle class household income would range from 50k to 100k a year. If you're married with three kids, you have a lot of expenses. But you're still middle class with each spouse earning 40k on average.

Or whatever. I'm not thinking straight with this cold....

Common misconception. I'm white, born poor, single mother, filled out my first W-2 when I was 13, do ok now after a lot of work, scholarships and loans got me thru college and law school (added to 15+ years of hard work). I wasn't a Dem when I was poor. I'm not a Republican 'cause I can now buy the 12-pack of soap (not the single bar to get by). Look around, there are just as many rich, white Dems. Just look at the survey results.

Stereotypes are hard nuts to crack.

You're a single mom!?   Seriously, how many of those scholarships and loans were government products of Democratic (party) principles?  In your case, maybe few.  But it's amazing to look at the careers of so many successful Republicans who "earned" everything from opportunities afforded to them by government.  Phil Graham and Clarence Thomas come quickly to mind.  Anti-government icons who owe their life staying at the government teat.

These results are amazingly like the results for the demographic variables on a recent UT poll of a random sample of Knox County homeowners. And our responses were representative of political affiliations in the county (was this question not asked in your survey... I can't remember). So it appears from the survey results that a cross section of the local population is reading it, not just a bunch of "rich dems" or whatever. Assuming most of the readership is local, of course.

Matchmaker

I like the matchmaker idea. I'd like one of the richer, younger men please. I'm kinda interested in the "other" besides white, but I'm not prejudiced. No Republicans need apply.

Aw, never mind, I'm old, white, poor and celibate. A sad speciman of a human being.

Neither, Divorced father of three and now a happy grandparent! Although the celibacy in part, can be attributed to my religious convictions of divorcement. Raising three children didn't leave much time or money for dating, although not always the case, I've seen to many diastrous second marriages when children were involved. Outside of family I've become a cranky old f@rt... I'm just one of millions of other people who's just trying to protect his family from government corruption and the dismantling of our constitution, something this administration seems hellbent on destroying, but sadly it seems to have reached into the throwes of our local governments. I fell into the deception and voted for Bush senior twice (head down in shame) but the 2000 election opened my eyes!
Unlike the millions of people who feel the same as me, I can't seem to shut up!
