The Morristown Citizen Tribune reports that the pharmacy owner and a customer were shot and killed and two other employees were wounded when a former police officer seeking oxycodone pills robbed the Down Home Pharmacy in Bean Station. The killer was apprehended with a gun and the pills a short time later.
This is a senseless tragedy at the intersection of a lot of bad mojo in our society, including mental health issues, prescription drug abuse and gun violence among other things. What is the answer? I'm pretty sure it's not to "add a little cyanide to those street drugs to end their dependancy [sic] a little sooner" as suggested by a commenter at the Knoxville News Sentinel. That's just another symptom.

The comments in the comment
The comments in the comment section of the News Sentinel can be really disgusting.
I totally agree.
The comments on the KNS blogs that follow most 'NEWS' stories seem to be written by pouting juveniles who criticize EVERY thing. The consensus from most who wrote any thing about this double murder/shootings were all about...punishing drug addicts. And the shooter was a former Bean Station AND Grainger County cop who had apparently been in so much trouble that he WAS BEING watched by local law, including a special DEA Agent. Apparently he had unlimited access to firearms. And to kill these victims, gangland style, had more to do with his mental state...a crazy lunatic with money to buy, or steal all the guns he needed to carry out this and other crimes.
Thank God he is behind bars as he was a sick drugged coward, too scared to kill himself.
Check out 'Southern Beale's Tennessee Gun Report' where the 'gang member' now in jail tells just how easy his gang could buy guns and ammo at GUN SHOWS.
And I agree. Our Senators, AND our State Legislature protects and collects from the NRA to stay on the A1 NRA list...while Tennesseans are killed every week with firearms.
And the criminal in Bean Station did not shoot and kill by accident. He made the 4 victims kneel and shot them in the head...planned murder by guns. Wonder if he had a HCP???
