School vouchers bill HB0190 is scheduled for the House Government Operations committee on Tue. 3/19. It has already cleared the House Education committee. Companion bill SB186 is scheduled for the Senate Education committee on Wed. 3/20.

HB702 establishing a statewide charter school authorizing authority is scheduled for the House Finance committee on Wed. 3/20. It has already cleared the House Education and Government Operations committees. Companion bill SB830 has cleared the Senate education committee and has been referred to the Senate Finance committee.

SB132/HB261, Campfield's bill reducing welfare payments to parents whose children fail to maintain satisfactory progress in school, is on the House Health subcommittee calendar for Tue. 3/19 and the Senate Health and Welfare committee calendar for Wed. 3/20.

HB501 prohibiting local governments from requiring contractors to pay a prevailing wage was passed by the House (66-27) and is scheduled for the Senate State and Local Government committee on Tue. 3/19.

SB1209 that eliminates prevailing wage regulations in the construction industry is scheduled for the Senate Commerce and Labor committee on Tue. 3/19. Companion bill HB850 is also on the House Business and Utilities Subcommittee for Tue. 3/19.

SB604 requiring the state to participate in Medicaid expansion is on the Senate Commerce and Labor committee calendar for Tue. 3/19 and companion bill HB290 is on the House Insurance and Banking Subcommittee calendar for 3/20/2013.

SB804 prohibiting the state from participating in Medicaid expansion is on the Senate Commerce and Labor committee calendar for Tue. 3/19 and companion bill HB937 is on the House Insurance and Banking Subcommittee calendar for 3/20/2013.

SB1168 enacting beverage container recycling refunds is on the Senate Energy, Agriculture and Natural Resources committee calendar for Wed. 3/20.

HB0868 prohibiting pain management clinics from dispensing controlled substances is on the House Health committee calendar for Wed. 3/20. Companion bill SB705 is also on the Senate Health and Welfare committee calendar for Wed. 3/20. An amendment would allow physicians to dispense 72 hours worth of samples.

HB0402 changing lottery scholarship eligibility from credit hours to semesters is on the House Education Committee calendar for Tue. 3/19. Companion bill SB710 was approved by the Senate Education committee (9-0) and referred to the Finance committee.

SB6 requiring lottery scholarship applicants to pass a U.S. citizenship and immigration service's citizenship test on English and civics is scheduled for the Senate Education committee on Wed. 3/20.

Also,

There was some bill about psych counselors not having to advise people if it went against their religious beliefs (the driver was a case in Michigan where someone was discharged for refused to advise a gay teen).

Some psychologists/psych professors advised that (1) this was against the industry's code of ethics for psychologists and (2) could cause schools here to lose their accreditation with the professional association.

But it passed the Senate by a wide margin anyway. This state is going to be completely disassembled in a few months anyway, it's going to be like Bangladesh.

Even Jennifer Sarifi didn't care if anyone was gay...
