I don't understand charging

I don't understand charging the same for an online subscription as for a print subscription. How do they justify not having the print and distribution costs but charging the same? Are they trying to make us believe the cost of online publishing is the same as print? I think it is the fear of having to eat the sunk capital cost of the printing press, etc.

The theory

I believe his theory is that one is paying for content and that is what he's both trying to improve and charge for.
