So much for the diesel-fueled Haslam Machine's influence when it comes to national politics. According to this ARG poll, Santorum leads Romney 34% to 27%.
That's within the margin of error, just barely. But look at the Tea Party support: 40% Santorum v. 17% Romney. And according to this report, Santorum is only just now getting his ground game organized in Tennessee, half way through early voting.
This will be entertaining. And quite amusing if Little Ricky wins Tennessee.

Operation Hilarity is
Operation Hilarity is encouraging Dems to vote for Santorum in states with open primaries (TN is one). I don't know if I can stomach it but it would throw a wrench in the establishment GOP's plans.
It's awfully tempting.
It's awfully tempting.
I couldn't do it, if I tried.
My brain would stage a revolt and refuse to make my fingers work.
Another important
Another important consideration on this GOP primary cycle:
Romney (and his SuperPac) has spent $33 million so far.
Very wealthy donors have contributed $50 million so far.
And we're not even to Super Tuesday yet.
Poll Call
I got a phone call on monday. I got as far as telling them I wouldn't vote for gingrich, couldn't say for sure on Paul so they hung up. My choices would be Paul, Romney, no one in the presidential race, or not even vote in the primary. There is no way in %#$ I would vote for Santorum. As a self employed person I might vote for Romney for back up self preservation on the health care front. Not too heart warming to know that Paul and Santorum would want me dead if I developed an expensive illness.
The poll is a couple weeks
The poll is a couple weeks old. My sense is that Romney has gotten a little momentum in the last week. I don't think Santorum has helped himself with the theocracy/Satan talk, even among the base.
So Romney might win Michigan and Arizona, and then what?
Of course if someone has an epic fail at tonight's debate, it could shake things up again.
