of monkeys and wrenching

Republicans elect their delegates on the taxpayer dime, putting the candidates on primary ballot. This means that anyone who asks for a Republican ballot in this election can help determine who goes to the GOP convention.

Stacey Campfield wants to be a delegate. Whether you are actually a Republican or just a voter attempting to maximize your impact on government, you can cast 14 not-Stacey votes! Your delegate selections need not align with your presidential vote, so regardless of which member of the insane clown posse you might choose in the presidential contest, do not vote for Campfield as a delegate.

I think the GOP convention will be most entertaining if there are a lot of Ron Paul types in attendance, so my advice is to vote for all 11 delegates committed to Paul, plus 3 others who are not Stacey. The handful of uncommitted delegates on the ballot offer good crazy-making potential as well.

Ron Paul is pretty sure there will be.

Primary

Is there any reason to get a Democratic ballot in this primary?

A Dem ballot lets you vote

A Dem ballot lets you vote for an unopposed Obama but eliminates your input on the law director and property assessor elections. School board races are nonpartisan, so if your district is up for grabs this year, you can vote in that contest no matter which ballot you ask for.

This is Knox County. As is

This is Knox County. As is often the case, if you want to have any say in who gets elected, you must choose among Republicans.
