Whitney Houston was 48 years old. The award winning singer was discovered dead at the Beverly Hilton hotel. She was visiting in preparation for the Grammy Awards to be held today.
I agree with the writer, "one of her generation’s greatest R & B voices". I was definitely a fan.
I believe she had one of the most beautiful voices of all time.
She will be missed.

Well that's a shocker to wake
Well that's a shocker to wake up to.
My favorite from way back when:
I'm Every Woman...
Yes, a great artist...
...but to break into primetime TV last night to announce her death? When we saw breaking news at 8:15 last night interrupting Charlie Brown, we thought war broke out. She had a fantastic voice, but it wasn't breaking news.
She had a fantastic voice,
I agree.
was at my mom's, and we kept channelsurfing to try and get away from the mawkish coverage. We were watching a movie on some channel or other, and a crawler came across the bottom with, yes, more Whitney coverage.
Enough, already
I'm sorry about what happened
I'm sorry about what happened to her, but I still haven't forgiven her for ruining Dolly's sweet little song.
Does anybody remember Bobby
Does anybody remember Bobby Brown doing that reality show in Newport in 2008? it was a crappy show, but he was pretty well-liked by the folks up there and seemed to have straightened his life out.
She produced some thrilling
She produced some thrilling moments when she sang Dolly's 'sweet little song' but she didn't know when to quit singing.
And there wasn't a queen in town who didn't sync her I Wanna Dance with Somebody (Who Loves Me).
I went through this with
I went through this with Hayduke yesterday. Dolly is a wonderful person. Everyone that I know or know of that actually knows her, loves her. She is also vocally appealing to some. For me, unless the song is carefully(or accidentally) constructed to deemphasize it, all I can hear when she sings is vibrato. The words and music go away and all that remains is annoying vibrato. Far from "ruining" Dolly's little song, Whitney's version was the first one I was able to actually listen to. I tend to listen to stuff that I want to sing along with and that was not getting ready to happen on the Dolly cut.
I wasn't watching tv so I have no idea about the morbidity marathon. I sure it was annoying to you but seriously, saying anything about Whitney's version other than it enabled people with hearing to actually listen to it is just wrong.
Plus, I'm guessing Whitney
Plus, I'm guessing Whitney Houston's version of the song made Dolly a whole bunch of money.
At some point I watched and
At some point I watched and interview with Dolly and she was questioned about how she felt about Whitney's treatment of her song. She claimed to love it but, I suppose her defenders think she is just a big fat liar.
Six million dollars according
Six million dollars according to the News-Sentinel.
I think both versions are great for their own reasons. Dolly's original is great, and Whitney's cover is fantastic.
I agree. My wife always says
I agree. My wife always says that Dolly "spings" too much in that one. As in, speaking-singing instead of singing. She loves Dolly though.

Dubai Fountain dances to Whitney Houston song [Video]
February 13, 2012
Arid Dubai uses one of the most famous songs performed by Whitney Houston, "I Will Always Love You," to choreograph displays at the Dubai Fountain, which bills itself as the "world's largest dancing fountain."
Now that Houston has died, the video of the fountains has become a sort of tribute. Watch the waters dance in this video produced by students at the English College Dubai.
