Apologies if this appeared elsewhere, and it is a week old, but I just became aware of it. My only comment is, I really am beginning to believe that people running for office in the State of Tennessee need to be required to pass a 9th grade civics testfirst.

Frankly, I wish the bill had gone through. It would have been so much fun to watch the Supreme Court declare it unconstitutional. And what a great opinion that would have been.

Actually, I think that might have been scary. What if the legislature had refused to defer to the Court's opinion?

You're probably too young to remember, but back during Watergate there was a real fear that Nixon would defy SCOTUS's decision that he hand over the tapes, thus setting off a huge Constitutional crisis.

Not interested in going there again. Although it would have been fun to watch some folks learn about Marbury v. Madison. I'm sure they'd blame that decision on an activist court. :)

There is so much insanity to slog through in this State. I can't believe we have roads and schools and courts. It's almost like we function in spite of the legislature, not because of it.
