Peacock

I went up to the Museum of Appalachia Wednesday to shoot a few photos. Turns out their winter hours don't include Wednesdays so I drove on up to Norris Dam and the Rice Mill.

But, even when they're closed, it's hard to hide peacocks.

More here.

Those things sure are pretty

Those things sure are pretty but they are also noisy and aggressive.

(You are getting some great shots with your Nikon 1. Still liking it?)

I love it now that I've

I love it now that I've finally broken down and read the instructions. I'm not too crazy about the factory set point and shoot mode but, once I found Program, Shutter, and Aperture priority modes, I decided I had a keeper. It'll be even better when I can add the 30 - 110 mm lens to my kit.

A friend asked me about

A friend asked me about eating pea foul and I thought about all those that wandered about the plantation houses of the old South. You know they didn't last through the wawah. I read a diary of a lady who lived in New Orleans at the beginning of it and moved to Vicksburg just in time for the siege. She wrote of a time when there was nothing to eat in the stores but mule meat and 'dressed rats'.

My friend Steve and I were back to the Museum of Appalachia yesterday. He surprised me with this capture of a wrinkled old man with a Nikon 1.
