Well, now that we know who will be on the Tennessee ballot for the U.S. Senate, it appears to be an interesting matchup in a ho-hum sort of way.
You've got a moderate Democrat v. a moderate Republican, each trying to out-conservative the other yet still somehow run in the middle. One has strong support in West Tennessee, the other in East Tennessee. It's almost as if there isn't a dime's worth of difference between them, so it should be a boring, but ugly, campaign.
Because consultants in D.C. and people in New York and Massachusetts can't vote in the election, Corker will probably win, somewhere in the 55%-58% range. But then, I honestly thought Bryant would get the nomination, so that shows you how much I know.

If you thought bryant was
If you thought bryant was going to win, you clearly weren't reading the conservative blogs. Or me ;)
Corker will win. I'll bet all takers a beer. And here's why:
Ford's bling bling is coming from out state - major issue for tennesseans
His last name is Ford
I hate to say it but I don't think Tennessee will elect a black senator.

The surest way (maybe the only way) Corker can lose is if I contribute money to his campaign.
Now taking donations...
(Services also available to short-sellers. Just forward the ticker symbol along with payment.)
Ford's bling bling is coming
So you're saying that the NRSC isn't going to be pouring money into Corker's campaign? It is to laugh.
And they elected a New Yorker to the governor's office.
Just sayin'.
Hell, if the stakes are a beer, I'm in.
But, but, but... his grandmother is white! (/sarcasm)
Yeah, unfortunately, I think this is the elephant in the room.
Here's what I think is going to lose this for Ford, if nothing else: ground game. He might have a machine in Shelby but Davidson is in poor shape. His delta in ET can't be more than -50,000 to Corker, and he needs to make that up in the big D metros. So far, that doesn't look so good.
It's all a numbers game, and the numbers don't favor HFJ. But I'm still voting for him.

I should warn you, I'm 100% for all political bets involving beer on my blog. And there have been many.

I should warn you, I'm 100%
Hey, it has nothing to do with your w/l record. I'll even concede that at this point, you're probably right in your prognostication. But any excuse for an exchange of beers is good with me.
At least it's not single-malt Scotch.
Consider me duly warned. I'm still in.

For Frist's seat the GOP won't pump
Ford's bling bling is coming from out state...
For Frist's seat the GOP won't pump massive bucks into Tenn.?? Get out. The Swift Boat division is just getting warm up. Ford does embrace a lot of the conservative, --ahem--, values, so they can't use that stuff against him. It'll be all slime: race, guilt by family association, liberal, tax'n'spend, etc. etc.
"Fancy-Free Ford," we ain't seen nuthin' yet.
Watch Corker race to the
Watch Corker race to the middle now. Blech.
Yeah, Corker will win. The political tilt of the state and $$ will have something to do with it, and the race thing will do the rest.
Oh well, Corker can't be worse than Frist - can he?
Corker Will Be Much Worse Than Frist
Corker doesn't even know CPR, so when constituents start collapsing in the hall, Corker's staff will just call 911.
Corker will never be Senater Majority Leader, he's just in it for the fun, the ultimate money boys club.
Corker doesn't own at HCA stock, so they're won't be a financial agenda to beat him over the head with time and time again.
I'm going against the grain
I'm going against the grain here. Ford will win this one for two reasons...
As we get closer to the day you will hear more and more about saving social security. I do not know why the GOP has this on their radar because it's going to cost them.
Harold Ford has more Charisma than anyone I've been around since Anne Richards. Think Slick
Willie can work a room? Get ready to be re-educated about room working. The kid has star quality in a big way.
Frankly, if i could do it, I'd trade Frist and Alexander for Ford and Coker and go strutting for some barbecue. Maybe that's what will happen over the course.
