Last night's Colbert Report featured a shot of a Knoxville News Sentinel web page (minus the ads) as the lead-in to the "Word" segment on eliminating unions by making everyone management.

Has Colbert got his mojo
Has Colbert got his mojo back? He started off great but his show hit the tank fast. After his couple of months, it was the same jokes over and over. I stopped TiVoing it because it just sucked. I guess it's easier to stay in character 3 times a week for five minutes than 4 times a week for 30.
The Daily Show is still good, though.

Can't we all just get a long gun?
I thought the same thing
I thought the same thing about staying in character. I lost interest too after a while at first. But I've started watching again (there's not much else on the Tivo during summer re-runs) and the show is much improved. Maybe there was a retooling of the writing staff or something. Maybe some viewers didn't get that it was parody, and now it's a little more over the top sometimes to remind you. If you missed the "tumbling" segment last week, you missed a classic.
Colbert Introducing Guests
When Colbert introduces guests, and then runs around the stage like Rocky after winning the championship, mugging for the camera, slapping high fives... That kills me, every time.

Coinage
There are people who do not understand that Colbert is satire. Seriously. My father-in-law watched it with me one time and found the commentary spot on. He's a certified dead ender.
Gullible + Colbert = Gulberts -- People who think that Stephen Colbert is not satire.

in other labor news....
....the KNS is reporting on actions recently taken by the local AFL-CIO folks. My candidate, Schree Pettigrew, made the cut and has been endorsed!
Still good
I may not tire of routines as quickly as some people, but I haven't lost interest. I think the show stirs in enough tweaks to keep it interesting.

I'd rather be cycling.
BTW, the section "the Word"
BTW, the section "the Word" was jabbing at the National Labor Relation Board's (NLRB) impending decision which will strip millions of workers' right to form unions. I hope more people who read this site will become more interested in the plight that American workers face day after day.

I think kind of the
I think kind of the opposite. The first few shows were OK, but it was hard to see how he could keep it going, especially as the gag would surely wear. I think the early reviews I saw (Slate, maybe?) observed that too. But IMO it's just steadily gotten funnier. Not noticed any of this "retooling," who knows, but several friends think it's even funnier than TDS now. For me it's just different.
I'm also more in awe of Colbert as a talent. His ability is really amazing. Besides the hilarious tumbling bit w/ Amy Sedaris, did you see the one where he debated Franken? He really out-mastered a master!
In spite of the known gag, now it's easy for me to see how Colbert can keep it fresh off the news indefinitely. After all, "Papa Bear" and the rest of the rant shows are still going strong.
When I say "kills me," I
When I say "kills me," I mean that it's funnier and funnier.

Actually, the best was when he had a "Gravitas-off" with Stone Phillips.
