The Tennessee Department of Labor and Workforce Development has received official notice of the following layoffs:

• Heartland Payment Systems is eliminating 136 jobs in Washington Co. between 1/5/2011 and 4/15/2011. According to previous news reports, the company is closing a Johnson City payment processing center and relocating the work to Indiana. The company processes debit/credit card payments, payroll, and other financial transactions.

• Phillips is eliminating 272 jobs in White Co. between 2/5/2011 and 3/31/2010. According to previous news reports, the company is closing a fluorescent light manufacturing facility in Sparta and moving the work to other locations. Officials for IBEW Local Union 2143, which represents workers at Sparta, say the jobs are being moved to Mexico.
