Don't have much to say this morning, but these folks do:

Timely profile or pure fluffery? Steve Ross says the Metro Pulse Haslam profile doesn't pass the smell test.

• Headline of the week: TVA Ex Chair Mike Duncan, Ex Senator Phil Gramm, Swiss Banks, $780 Million fine, Secret Foreign Donors?

• Tennessee Geurilla Women: Tim Geithner opposes Elizabeth Warren for Consumer Protection Board. Actually, maybe Warren should be head of Treasury and we should purge all these Goldman Sachs thugs from Treasury and the Fed.

• Mike Byrd on why he's not voting in the House 58 Democratic primary, and Sean Braisted on why he is.

• Sean Braisted also says its time for change in the 21st House district.

• Whites Creek on how the governor's race won't be pretty from here on as the campaigns go negative.

• See also Whites Creek on cowards and traitors in the Democratic Party.

• Trace Sharp wonders how Rep. Mike Turner knows there are undocumented immigrants working on the Nashville convention center?

• Left Wing Cracker has the banned Haslam parody videos.

• See also Left Wing Cracker's primary picks and message to McWherter. Must be nice to have some real Democrats to vote for like they have over in Memphis.

• Tom Humphrey has a roundup of Jackson Day coverage and remarks by Al Gore and Joe Biden.

• Zach Wamp fact checks his own negative ad against Haslam.

• Ramsey argues freedom of religion doesn't apply to Muslims.

Tn.gov gets a makeover.

• Obama: GOP Senate leadership choosing to filibuster our recovery and obstruct our progress.

Recovery Act delivers fiber optic Internet to Squirrel Flat, Tennessee.

Fireworks expected at Pellissippi Parkway extension hearing

• Georgiana Vines on the GOP race to replace Campfield.

• Knoxville News Sentinel Voter Guide with candidate profiles and video remarks.

KNS Voter Guide

I take exception to today's KNS Voter Guide with regard to its coverage of the governor's race. You saw immediately, of course, that only the three Republican candidates are pictured on its front cover. No candidate profile for the sole Democratic candidate is contained inside the Guide, either.

It is notable that this is the ONLY race in which the Guide fails to provide any info whatsoever on the Democratic candidate.

Yes, I understand that the upcoming election is a primary for gubernatorial candidates and that the Democratic candidate is unopposed--but did it not occur to KNS that some voters may be undecided as to which primary they will vote in (particularly WRT Haslam vs. McWherter)?

Look out! The Muslim horde

Look out! The Muslim horde is infiltrating and imposing Sharia law.

It would be an interesting follow up asking Ramsey how he thinks the government should define "religion" versus "way of life."

Excuse my self-indulgence,

Excuse my self-indulgence, but I also offered a take on this issue this week:

For what it's worth, I wrote

For what it's worth, I wrote a long response to Steve Ross' post about the Metro Pulse profile, and it has not appeared on his blog. I sent a follow-up message asking if he'd received my first response and haven't heard anything back on that either. I don't mind him asking questions, but it would be nice if he'd at least let me answer them.

The short version is, there's nothing nefarious or "smelly" about the timing of the article. The notion that Metro Pulse has the luxury to sit around and plot out that kind of thing, or that we would be for any reason inclined to, is just silly. The story got done as fast as I could get it done, and pegging it to the first week of early voting made all kinds of topical/timeliness sense. Ross himself says he doesn't have a problem with the content of the articles, so I don't know what to tell him other than what I have already tried to.
