Come OUT and Show us Your Pride at our Annual Knoxville PrideFest Pride Parade. We'll start down State Street to Church St, up Church to Gay St, Down Gay St to Wall Ave and down Wall into Market Square. Come march or watch and enjoy. It's free and the more the merrier!
Brought to you by: (link...)
When: Sat, June 26, 3pm – 4pm
Where: Staging at State St Surface Lot from 3-3:30pm (map)
Followed by: Knoxville PrideFest Festival
When: Sat, June 26, 4pm – 10pm
Where: Market Square, Downtown Knoxville (map)
Come see the vendors, entertainers and organizations OUT to support you!
Note: The organizers of Pridefest refer to this years parade as Knoxville's 2nd pride parade. However, according to my recollection, it is Knoxville's third, and I well remember knoxville's first. Maybe they meant
"2nd annual", meaning 2nd annually held parade?
Much love to all my queer brothers and sisters and somewhere-in-betweeners, and somewhere-not-in-between-but-rather-an-entirely-different-thing-ers, and all the rest of us who proudly and passionately support equality before the law for all human beings (marriage included).

Promises to be a great event!
Thanks for the heads up, sugar. This event is sure to be a great event and fun for all. I only hope that it raises awareness with regard to the issues faced by lesbian, gay, bi-sexual and transgender folks living in the greater Knoxville area. We live here pay our taxes and generally participate in our respective communities.
Parade starts at 3:30. Sam
Parade starts at 3:30.
Sam and I will see you there!
I was explaining to him what this is all about this morning.
When I got to the "And some men love other men and want to marry them, and some women love other women and want to marry them" he came out with a "OH YEAH!! THAT WOULD BE SO AWESOME!!"
I got a "OH YEAH!! THATS SO COOL!" when describing people who want to transition to another gender.
I think I'll stop there.

Mr. Obama has been working pretty hard behind the scenes to get back on my good side after inviting that bigot preacher to speak at his inauguration.
The Washington Post elaborates on his actions to promote equal rights.

Jack McElroy on KNS (non)
Jack McElroy on KNS (non) coverage:With a limited crew working weekends, we're not able to cover all deserving events.
Seems they had to cover a Chatty Cathy convention and were spread thin as a result.
Chatty Cathy????!! You have
Chatty Cathy????!! You have got to be kidding.
The only conclusion I can come to is that McElroy meant that as a veiled insult to Knoxville's GLBT community.
Something like "Sorry, we were too busy grooming our dogs to send a reporter down to pridefest."
He also explicitly states that they were aware of Pridefest, so that excuse is out.
And if its not an insult it is the LAMEST excuse for non-coverage of an event that I have EVER heard from KNS.
Yet another reason I don't subscribe to KNS and often discourage others from doing so.
