Sounds an awful lot like the Midway Industrial Park fiasco to me.
Too expensive, bad for air quality, a boondoggle for business, plagued by bad geology...all of these are among the many arguments for not proceeding with Midway.

And consider how much was spent on this project already:

TDOT said it spent about $1.1 million funding the design team that was unable to reach consensus.

The source said TDOT has spent about $7.5 million on the project so far, including the design team, environmental studies and public meetings.

This is less than has been spent on Midway, but its still a huge chunk of change.

And here's to hoping TDOT will also nix the "Green Route".

Wonder why TDOT didn't punt to the new governor? Scared that Haslam might spend road money someplace besides Nashville?

Nicely is also expected to announce that plans for a new bridge over Ft. Loudoun dam (actually just downstream) will proceed.
