As of last Friday, May 14, 72 banks have failed in 2010. So far, banks closing in 2010 is more than double 2009.

Illinois (11) has surpassed both Florida (10) and Georgia (8) with the most bank failures in 2010. My first report on March 20 had both Florida and Georgia tied for the most failed banks. No Tennessee bank has failed in either 2010 or 2009. However, American Patriot Bank in Greeneville, TN, appears to be scrambling.
