The East Tennessee Society of Professional Journalists last night recognized KnoxViews with a Golden Press Card "Continuing Coverage" award for our reports on the Tennessee Voter Confidence Act.

2009 WINNER, Golden Press Card:

DIVISION 6-B: CONTINUING COVERAGE, INDEPENDENT WEB SITE

1. "Tennessee Voter Confidence Act," Contributors, KnoxViews

"Good independent coverage of a complex issue, providing insight from several perspectives."

Only one award for 6-B.

Thanks to ETSPJ for the recognition. Personally, I feel it should have gone to RoaneViews for their ongoing coverage of the TVA coal ash disaster. But we'll take it.

And my apologies to the ETSPJ for not making it to the awards banquet. We RSPV'd and paid the banquet registration fee. But I went up to Townsend today to cover Troutfest and then decided to drive around Cades Cove to look for bears while I was up there, and got caught in massive bear jams (they were everywhere!) and didn't get home 'till after 7PM which was way too late to make it to the banquet.

At any rate, we're honored here at KnoxViews. Thanks very much to the judges.

And, congratulations to all the other Golden Press Card award winners.

P.S. Props to the ETSPJ for including blogs and other independent websites in the award categories for the first time ever.

The "insight from multiple perspectives" that you were cited for is only one aspect of the professionalism found at KnoxViews. Attaboy!
