Metro Pulse:

That leaves only Democrat Ezra Maize between Burchett and the county mayor's office. As of the last financial reporting period, Maize's campaign had less than $600 on hand.

I just talked to Robert

I just talked to Robert Bedwell personally for our story, and I specifically asked him whether he was still planning to run. He assured me that he is still in the race, but didn't want to comment on the Cosby development.

I'm amazed at how many people completely ignore the fact that he's in the race...he's the first person on the list of all Knox County candidates that is posted on KnoxVotes.org, for cripes sake!

I'm sure my shop is also guilty of not mentioning him, but I've told everyone here that there are TWO Independents in this race.

As Gordon Boyd used to say, "Why let facts get in the way of a good story?" Of course, he was being facetious.

Fair enough, blog post has

Fair enough, blog post has been updated. As to why he gets forgotten, that is mostly a reflection of the nature of his campaign (nonexistent, as far as I can tell) and supporters (ditto). But maybe he'll crank it up sometime soon.

School Board question

I know this is off topic, but why do these voting results (link...)
have two winners in each of the 7th, 8th, and 9th districts?
In the 7th they have Kim Sepesi and Bill Warwick. In the 8th they have Roy Mullins and Michael McMillan. In the 9th they have Pam Trainor and Robert Bratton.
Sepesi, Mullins, and Trainor won the voting.

Top two go on

The School Board race is a non partisan race. In other words political parties did not have nominees. Therefore, the top two vote getters go to a run off in the general election in August. If one of the candidates had received more than 50% of the vote in the primary, there would be no run off. But the votes were split into smaller pieces of pie and no one got half. They will still run just in their Districts.

In the City Council races, which is also non partisan but in opposite years from county races, the top two vote getters in the districts run in the general election, but the whole city gets to vote in those races.

Hope this helps.
