When Digby goes off he rocks and it's all good. If we could just get that fire in the belly of the Democratic Party and its leadership, things would be a lot better.
Here's an example of what I'm talking about:
Please, please spare me the crocodile tears about leftist incivility. We are living in a political world formed by rightwing commentators who have made a fetish of harsh eliminationist rhetoric hammered over and over again into the ether until it sounds like normal discourse. And we've been waiting for more than a decade for the mainstream media to notice that rightwing celebrity pundits, who reach millions upon millions of listeners and viewers a day, routinely accuse liberals of treason and celebrate our deaths. It's made us a little bit testy. When important news outlets like the Washington Post see "leftist incivility" as a topic worthy of the rending of garments and gnashing of teeth it makes us wonder if they are even living in the same universe we do.Famous and wealthy toxic political commentators like Rush Limbaugh and Bill O'Reilly are routinely lauded as normal mainstream partisans while ordinary readers of the Washington Post are excoriated for incivility when they complain about inaccurate coverage that benefits Republicans. This is bizarro world. It is insane. It is a sign of a very sick political culture.

He's a great example of what's possible when instead of hating the media, you become the media.
And this is what the conservabots hate most about the internets -- that there's a forum where they can't dominate every corner of the discourse.

So what's that got to do with anything? I like Al Franken's show. I listen to Air America all the time (when I'm driving, anyway.) There probably wouldn't be an Air America if not for him. Besides, that kind of money is peanuts compared to Rush Limbaugh's contract. Or even Howard Stern. To get back on topic, now there's some civility in discourse!

I'm not totally sure and it just doesn't matter really, but I think the great and wonderful Digby is a Ms.
Having offered that distraction, I would give a lot to be able to write as effectively and wisely as Digby. There's rarely a morning when I don't offer a "Yeah, baby!" after the ritual Digby read.
sometimes I sigh and think how much easier it would be to just be a wingnut...no thinking.. nothing to tire the mind...Just feigned outrage, indignation, and little effort except to be able to remember the morning's attack on Liberals sent from on high, or low as it were. Then I read Digby and think, "AHA! That's how it's done."
