We've seen a couple of boarded up citrus packing houses like this one along US1. Apparently the Florida citrus industry has been in decline since the freeze of 1989, followed by the citrus canker outbreak, and also reduced demand.

This particular packing house is listed in the National Register of Historic Places, dating back to 1925.

We've also seen a number of abandoned groves, including one that had trees overgrown with kudzu. Sad.
