How's the weather? Pretty nice where we are. Surfer dudes were out at 7:30 this AM. Y'all have fun, and stay safe!

Stir up reader envy, why

Stir up reader envy, why don't you?

But hey, I'm starting to like miserable 30-something degree days. Or not.

Brian A.
I'd rather be cycling.

gonna be a miserable

gonna be a miserable upper-40s for the next few days here in St. Auggie. I came down here to escape this stuff. I want my money back.

Hah! The first year we lived

Hah! The first year we lived in Florida it got down to 18 degrees over the Christmas holidays. We were for sure saying, "this wasn't in the contract!"

Mary Rae McPherson has been

Mary Rae McPherson has been one of my Flickr contacts for some time now. She is a conductor on Amtrak's City of New Orleans and she posted this delightful image of Kankakee, Illinois, yesterday as her train passed through at 60 miles per hour.

It caused me to count my blessings as Lulu and I strolled through Ashe Park this afternoon in a balmy, sunlit 37 degrees.

Hmmm.

There's Florida history for our hosts.
Real waves so it's probably on the Atlantic.
Greenish water, so it's not too far south where (I like to think) the water's more blue due to the Gulf Stream.
Fletch says St. Augustine is 40ish so I'm thinking south of there where it's warm enough to surf at 7:30AM.

Cocoa Beach maybe? I'll watch for pix from Merritt Island National Wildlife Refuge.

Good deducing there, JM.

Good deducing there, JM. We're at Melbourne, about 10 or 15 miles south of Cocoa.

Usually we go to the Daytona area (around Ponce Inlet) but decided to try further south where it might be a little warmer. It was cloudy and in the 70s the first couple of days. It's clear and cold this AM (about 45) but it might get up about 60. And yes you can expect some pics from the Merritt Island National Wildlife Refuge.

Haven't been down here before. It's pretty nice. Not as developed or touristy along the beach, and they have left the natural dunes. There are only four large hotels on the beach here, and just a few smaller motels.

I'm jealous

Heh.

Got to visit my sister on Merritt Island a few weeks ago and watch STS-129 go (from Turn Basin!) MINWR was short on birds (November) but long on alligators. Nice drive down Bio Lab Road.

Have fun.
