I heard an ad on the radio

I heard an ad on the radio the other day trying to sell Saturn cars. Great deals are to be had. Will they be manufacturing them somewhere else any more?

The House will consider a JOBS! initiative tomorrow.  This measure will create or save jobs here at home with targeted investments ($75 billion) for highways and transit, school renovation, hiring teachers, police, and firefighters, small business, job training and affordable housing – key drivers of economic growth that have the most bang for the buck.  These investments are fully paid for by redirecting TARP funds from Wall Street to Main Street.

it's nuts that GM is getting

it's nuts that GM is getting rid of Saturn. everyone i've known who has owned one thinks it's the best car they've ever had. it's not unusual to hear stories about the engines running upwards of 300,000 miles and gas mileage in excess of 40 mpg. maybe that's the problem: the car's not obsolescent or inefficient enough. combine that with a good UAW contract and you have a recipe for not-high-enough profits. a myopic decision IMO.
