The first WSM Nashville broadcast of the Grand Ole Opry (under that name) was in 1927 on this date, Dec. 10th, making the Grand Ole Opry 82 years old today.

According to the internet, the opening act on that date featured an hour-long performance by Smith Co. Tennessee harmonica man DeFord Bailey, an African-American whose grandparents were slaves.
