The Tennessee Department of Labor and Workforce Development has received notice that Semperian LLC in Knoxville will cut 45 jobs on Dec. 31, 2009.

The state also received official notice of German steelmaker ThyssenKrupp Waupaca's previously reported plans to close its manufacturing facility in Etowah, resulting in the loss of 264 jobs on Dec. 31st.

Other notices in this week's report include a Huddle House in Scott County closing (21 jobs) and layoffs at Rite-Hite Products Corp. in Shelby County (36 jobs), bringing the total for this week's report to 366 layoffs.

I was thinking the same

I was thinking the same thing. I guess it's a 24 hour operation. They must be having trouble. They closed one over here that had only been open about a year or so as part of a new mega gas-convenience store. It sat empty for a while, but I think an independent outfit is moving in now.

One of my new friends at

One of my new friends at cardiac therapy used to be a Waffle House waitress. I now have a whole new respect for these oft-maligned individuals. She tells some stories that make our workouts more fun.

One of them involves the heart-healthy nature of their waffles, lots of eggs and half and half, an upgrade from their old recipe that used real cream.
