Amazon Updates Kindle 2 Reader

Your Kindle just got a even better. Now you can load pdf files into it directly through its USB port.

Here is the firmware update page.

One caveat:

I just spent twenty minutes with a lady (who does not speak East Tennessee) and then her supervisor to learn that there should be an additional step in their installation instructions.

Step 7a - Press the 'MENU' key again.

You also get new screensaver images.

Update:
If I read the above link correctly, your Kindle should auto update the next time it goes into sleep mode with the wireless turned on.

I had to update mine

I just checked Amazon's update page. They have changed their procedure per our phone conversation. Now it should be no problem.
