Bravo, senator. Occasions such as this only come along once or twice every epoch. You rose to it with eloquence and sagacity unparalleled in modern memory. Especially that part about keeping the gubmints mittens out of our healthcare skivvies. That's between us, our doctors and some jerkoff at the Aetna call center. You hit the moderate sweet spot, between the Republican a-hole and the Democrat hoo-hah. Ok, then.
The Greeks called this the supreme moment, kairos, and the Romans occasio. Wisdom meets opportunity. Verum est quod legitur, fronte capillata, sed plerumque sequitur occasio calvata goes the poem, "it is true what is read, that Occasio has the forehead with hair, but that almost always she passes being bald."
Yes. I doubt one in a million mediocre pols could've grabbed that precious lock. Others would've been left gaping at Fortuna's hairless nucha. Here's hoping you never let go.
THIS JUST IN: Sen. Lincoln has issued a statement. "I would like to thank Sven for the generous words regarding my...words. I have always depended on the kindness of strangers."

And bravo to you, sir!
And bravo to you, sir!
Lincoln is Blanche Lambert's
Lincoln is Blanche Lambert's married name. She got elected to Congress because the guy in office was a bit crazy, and was retiring. She had worked for him and seemed much more sane than he could ever be. How she got into the Senate is quite frankly a mystery to me.
She's from a conservative Delta farm family. My guess is personally she's more liberal than she let's on. However, she is facing a hard re-election this year and although her competition hasn't got much sense atall, the people in Arkansas are due to elect a crazy Republican to the U.S. Senate because they aren't happy with the two conservative Democrats they have. The electorate things they are too liberal. To think, it' the state that gave us William Fulbright and Dale Bumpers. Neither of whom would ever get elected today, that's for sure. For shame. For shame.
Pam Strickland
"We are what we pretend to be, so we must be careful about what we pretend to be." ~Kurt Vonnegut
I feel her pain. Ben Nelson,
I feel her pain. Ben Nelson, not so much.
What gets my goat the most (well, second most) is the gravitas
that's attached to these noble centrists...when they are, in fact, shallow as piss on concrete.
