I'm 100% behind Madeline for mayor of Knoxville.

Time to start telling your neighbors. I'm for Madeline.

Thinks it's too early? Think again because folks are starting to get real interested in running for mayor.

When you go to those holiday parties & someone brings up the mayors race..

Just say..I'm for Madeline!

I will happily second that motion. Madeline would be a great Mayor. And, you are correct...it's never too early to begin the process of getting her name out there for folks to consider.

That is a nice thought in theory, but as I suspect you would agree, doesn't work in practice. If people understood all of the consequences of "running government like a business," they wouldn't like it.If "run like a business," local governments would never have libraries, fire departments or schools. Those are cost centers, not profit centers.

There are functional areas of government, however, that can and should be run like a business. Learning to manage a work force and multiple departments run by strong, independent people, can be a messy process of trial and error. It is usually best done in smaller, less visible situations - and usually while risking one's own capital, not taxpayer money.

If Madeline was able to clean up the mess Renee Kesler left in the Community Development Department, she's pretty much demonstrated she can manage difficult work force situations.

I read a recent Shopper article about some folks who also might run for mayor took a chance to vote against Madeline over the sell of a house. That stuff is easy to see through.

Can't give you details because I wasn't paying enough attention.

2011 Knoxville Election for Mayor

Georgiana Vines story in the News-Sentinal today(Dec 12th) bears out what I posted concerning the 2011 election for Knoxville's next mayor.

Yep..folks are getting real interested in running for mayor of Knoxville.

One candidate is beyond getting real interested & is running for mayor

One is "considering a run" for mayor.

Plus one fellow is real interested in running another fellow for mayor.

And one was quoted as saying "never say never" about running for mayor.

Michael Silence,of the News-Sentinal,said it best..our "rallying cry" for the 2011 election for mayor of Knoxville is three simple words:

I'm for Madeline!

Let me get this straight - we have an extremely competent, loyal democrat running for Mayor,   yet Bill Owen is encouraging Joe Armstrong to join the race???

Joe Armstrong

I believe Joe Armstrong's been an outstanding member of the Tennessee House.

I have always voted for Rep.Armsrong & I will vote for Rep.Armstrong in the 2010 15th State House District Democratic primary.

It is never a smart move to count your chickens before they hatch but I truely believe Rep.Armstrong will be re-elected.

And as long as Rep.Armstrong is my state represenative I will continue to support & vote for Joe Armstrong for re-election to the State House.

In fact I would vote for & support Joe Armstrong for about any campaign he chose to enter.

The exception is the 2011 campaign for mayor of Knoxville.

For mayor...I'm for Madeline!
