Gov. Bredesen supports banning gay marriage
Submitted by R. Neal on Wed, 2006/06/07 - 1:17pm.
The Gov. said in Athens yesterday that he would vote for the Tennessee Constitutional amendment banning gay marriage. Funny, he didn't mention that in Knoxville, but maybe nobody asked.
Bredesen says he support the amendment even though there is already a law on the books. He also says the only question is whether it will pass by 85% or 95%.

Yeah, I kinda expect that from Bredesen, unfortunately. He has designs on the presidency, and for the most part, Democrats and Republicans alike are all too willing to throw the gay constituency overboard in order to score cheap points.
"I don't believe there's any issue that's more important than this one," said Sen. David Vitter, a Louisiana Republican. "I think this debate is very healthy, and it's winning a lot of hearts and minds. I think we're going to show real progress."
Uh, Senator?
I think maybe rebuilding the most populous city in your jurisdiction might be a trifle more important.
