PRESS RELEASE:

Jackson, Tenn. – Mike McWherter announced today that noted Tennessee blogger Trace Sharp will join his gubernatorial campaign team serving as Director of New Media.

McWherter campaign manager Kim Sasser Hayden said, "Our campaign is excited to work with Trace and to extend our outreach to Tennessee voters through new media."

Sharp recently served as the managing editor of the Weakley County Press and was the program coordinator for Northwest Tennessee Economic Development Council’s battered women services. Sharp also was the owner/publisher of “our town” magazine and served as news director for Thunderbolt Broadcasting, winning several AP awards for features and breaking news.

"It’s an honor to be working with Mike McWherter’s campaign," said Sharp. "I am excited about his dedication to new media and his validation of the blogosphere and social media in this state while he is on the campaign trail."

Mike McWherter is a small business owner in West Tennessee who announced his candidacy for governor in April 2009. A native of Northwest Tennessee, he now lives in Jackson with his wife, Mary Jane, and their children, Walker and Bess.
