Lawful and unlawful orders

Someone gave the order to kill civilians at Haditha or someone took it upon them to kill civilians at Haditha. Let's say the former was the case. It then becomes a matter of whether or not the order was lawful or unlawful. If the case was the latter, then it was a breakdown in leadership.

Of course, there is a third possibility: The incident never happened. I am sure this will be the course that many in wingnuttia will take. It is a kissing cousin to the "you don't understand war" argument in that if that one fails you can always deny it happened.

Anyhow, the notion that the hawks in this country are going to start killing or, really, want to kill people who are not politically aligned with them doesn't surprise me in the least. What's the best way to build a better world? On a foundation of corpses.  It was good enough for Napoleon, it is good enough for the American Right. Gimme that old time religion...

Moral decline

Speaking of Insty, this is getting pretty  pathetic, isn't it?
