Lunch in a (compostable) cup

After all the fuss about The Glowing Bowl, I decided to try it out. That coincided with my being bedridden for several days with a high fever and low appetite. When I was finally able to trek out, I decided to go for something that would be healthy and nourishing, so I tried the new neighborhood eatery. On recommendation, I ordered the Green Lemonade, a 12-ounce concoction that is bright green and contains organic lemons, romaine lettuce, cale, ginger and apple, all pulverized to combine into a thick drink so unique in taste I can hardly describe it.

Satisfied, I went back today and, on recommendation of another diner, ordered the Seasonal Special. Pale orange in color, this hand-crafted "juice" contains organic oranges, pineapple, banana, coconut and agave, a natural sweetener. Heavenly.

For $8.25 plus tax - the price of a burger, fries and cola - you can walk away feeling full and well nourished. The service was efficient and friendly, and the atmosphere calm and quiet. The plastic cup, made of cornstarch, was compostable, and the napkin recyclable.

I like the drinks at Glowing Bowl, but the solid food often seems a better value.
Also enjoyed the free yoga class I took there a few weeks ago on a sunday.

Green Pen Slightly Askew

My neighbor gave me this 'green' pen from a Y-12 dog and pony show last year. Its case is made of corn. As you can see by the bend it is already going back to the earth.

There is a corn logo visible here on the cap.

i wonder if it uses soy ink.

note: all this sounds a bit silly and/or trendy, but as i try falling asleep at night listening to the racket coming off of the "improved" I-40, i have to believe in taking small steps towards changing the way we live.

Hmmm.... For $9 you got a health drink? I'm just not there yet :)

I bought some to go food in the last month. The plastic (?) container said it was made of corn something. I was skeptical. If it is made of cornstarch is it edible?

I was sceptical too. But

I was sceptical too. But that cornstarch cup (don't know if it's edible) contains 3 oranges, a lime, a half coconut, a banana, a pineapple core and some agave. All organic. That's alot of food, prepared on the spot in the time Pete could grill and flip a burger, drain some fries and dispense a fizzy drink.
