You chose to defend it at the time because it was your job to inform the Republican base of the threat to Israel you believe that President Obama is. You weren't up for election, John McCain was, so you could talk about it even though he couldn't. We understand that, but understand now, now that you are up for election, we're going to talk about it a little more.

Since we're on the topic of messaging, propaganda and the exploitation of populist fears, I'm going to tell you some quick things about Glenn Beck. He's the same media personality that's been around since the 30's. He's brilliant, charming and very helpful to maintaining the notion that "progress" is going to come take something from you. Yes, he's normally right that you are helpless and that you are going to get screwed. It shouldn't take anyone in the media to tell you that we have built a lot of this castle on some sand. It shouldn't take a President to tell you about unsustainable growth. I hope I'm preaching to the choir to say that we need to produce some new products that enable us to work the land more intelligently. Glenn Beck is the best person ever at his job, but he is not putting tools in your hands.

I'm probably not going to put any tools in your hands either, but is Robin Smith? She says "Tennesseans are calling for leadership in Washington on crucial issues such as national security, healthcare, the deficit, runaway spending, government control of private companies and irresponsible corporate bailouts."

Sure we'll always bitch about getting a short return on the investment of our tax dollars. By now, we should all know that a lot of profits were based on growth which was based on politics, and we should know that greasing up the same old machine will not dig us out of this hole. Robin Smith is a heavy hitter candidate to replace Senator Wamp. I haven't found any suggestions of any new ideas that would build any new infrastructure from Robin Smith. (I did find this, which I'm posting for it's dig at "the state's political blogosphere" and a couple of other things like this sweet Diane Black quote: "If you haven't voted in two of the past three presidential races," she told a radio show, "then I think we ought to say we're taking your right away.")

Somehow, Tennessee is showing some important economic leadership in a time of global crisis:
Under the Bredesen administration, Tennessee has added jobs tax credits and Fast Track grants to cut tax obligations for major new businesses and to fund roads, sewers and other infrastructure needs for a new plant.
But Ben Cunningham, spokesman of Tennessee Tax Revolt, said Tennesseans will end up losing from giving away so many incentives.
A state-funded study by the University of Tennessee’s Center for Business and Economic Research estimates VW will get government assistance or tax breaks valued at $577.4 million in current dollars. In return, the UT study estimates VW and its suppliers will generate more than 11,000 jobs and ultimately produce more than twice as much in tax collections and more than 20 times more in personal income growth than what the government spends.
