Geez, I thought I was

Geez, I thought I was well-informed but I recognize exactly half of these names. Who are these people? Are their resumes available to the public?

William Moxley is AKA radio

William Moxley is AKA radio guy Kelvin Moxley.

I suspect more names will be added for the interviews -- that deadline is tomorrow, I believe. -- s.

Thanks, Sandra. But that

Thanks, Sandra. But that was one of the five names I recognized.

I'm for Jack White.

Well...

if it's that Jack White, I'm going to make sure I get his autograph.

William Moxley

He's also a former aide to U.S. Senator Fred Thompson. He worked in both Washington and Nashville. He started his working career with the Department of Defense.

If I understood what

If I understood what Election Commissioner Brooks told me today, then yesterday at 3 p.m. was the resume submission deadline. Also, he said something about each commissioner getting to add two names not in the top 10, so that could mean up to 20 candidates to be considered.

I've posted a little bit of background information on each of the top 10 candidates at the following link:

why didn't you mention your child protege Scott Frith?

Nobody but Not Kelvin's picture

Hello "nobody"

Hey 'nobody',let me guess,is your name Kelvin Moxley? Who else goes on a board just to toot their own horn. Btw, it surprises me that Steve Hall and Kelvin have both ended up on this list since their original plan was to put Kelvin in one of the 5 positions on commission so that he could vote for Steve Hall. That's what Campfield made him promise, right? At least that's what his good buddy Lumpy Lambert told the papers, the news, and anyone that would listen. Matter of fact, I heard Lumpy actually drove Kelvin down to the meeting in Nashville when Bowman was selected. I don't know about you all but I've had about all I can take from the Lumpster, and Campfield and company. I'd like them to pick the person from NC that actually has experience! Imagine that! Picking someone basis on their qualifications, and not on their party afiliation, or who their family is, etc.

resume

On paper William Ailor has

On paper William Ailor has the greatest credentials. But if I was a betting man I would bet on Mackay. This appears to be another done deal. The decision appears to have been made in Nashville. Score another for the water carrier.

If this kind of parade had been done on Black Wednesday, we would probably know little about how corrupt local government is. For all the talk about reform, it seems all we have gotten is a political beauty pageant. At least the KNS sold some papers.

Five of 10

Hey, I know 5 of the "top ten" and don't know 5.

I like Greg, Scott and Kelvin. Steve Hall seems lacking in two essential job skills -- technology and communications -- although he's proven he can manage a business. Rob Huddleston can't survive his blog -- Obama as the Anti-Christ????? -- s.

I dunno. That's the very reason the Ray Jenkins of the world will love him.

9 your opinion, in my opinion ,is blue smoke & mirrors.

Anonymously Nine's picture

The blue smoke is that it isn't rigged.

Would you bet Mackay won't win the appointment? It is a predetermined beauty pageant and the winners name is already on the crown.

Excuse me

I am missing the huge ethical issue here.

Does anyone have any indication whatsoever that any of the five election commissioners has deliberated with each other about Greg Mackay's job outside a properly-called public meeting?

Is it someone's position that there is an ethical problem if three members of a five member commission independently decide to support the same action?

Having decided for whatever reason to accept resumes, is there some perceived ethical problem if the commissioners still decide that the best person for the job already has it?

Anonymously Nine's picture

dictionary time

Is it someone's position that there is an ethical problem if three members of a five member commission independently decide to support the same action?

Independently? The Websters definition or the Knox County definition?

You may have forgotten in Knox County we don't know the meaning of the word "created". Revisit the Briggs/McAdams coup.

If this hadn't been cooked in Nashville by Burchett people might have more faith in the system.

Mark Siegel's picture

reality time

If this (Mackay being the leading candidate for his own job) has "been cooked in Nashville by Burchett people", why did they bother to solicit resumes? Couldn't the "Burchett people in Nashville" have just said there was no vacancy, and therefore no need for anyone to apply?

And, assuming "Burchett people in Nashville" are now, or do end up, supporting Mackay for the job, why is that an ethical problem?

R. Neal's picture

We are told that Rob

We are told that Rob Huddleston apparently rated #1 on two GOP commissioner's lists, and #2 on the other. He apparently got averaged down by low rankings on the Dem commissioner's lists.

Some other GOP commissioner top ten rankings:

Frith 3rd, 9th, NR
Drinnen: 8th, 7th, NR
Long: 6th, 4th, 1st
White: 4th, 2nd, 4th
Mackay: 2nd, 10th, 3rd
Hall: 7th, NR, NR
Moxley: 10th, NR, NR

ronbryant's picture

any ideas on why.. or how..

any ideas on why.. or how.. Scott Frith is ranked as the #2 candidate? Does anyone know what qualifications or experience he has that's made him so qualified?

Sandra Clark's picture

Qualifications

any ideas on why.. or how.. Scott Frith is ranked as the #2 candidate? Does anyone know what qualifications or experience he has that's made him so qualified?

LOL. Scott's employment experiences are virtually identical to Greg's when he was first appointed. -- s.

ronbryant's picture

well that'd be stretching

well that'd be stretching things a little to believe that. Greg Mackay had been an Election Commissioner prior to being Administrator and had ran for political office. Greg may have been in real estate first, but he had some important work experience.
