From Gloria Johnson, KCDP:

The KCDP Board of Governors met May 21st and voted to open an office in Knox County. We feel that in order to build the party and accomplish our goals for 2010, we must have a place to share ideas, disseminate information, and support candidates and elected officials all the time, not just during an election cycle. We are hoping to keep the office open Monday-Saturday from 10-6. The office will be located at 311 Morgan Street, where the AFL-CIO has their offices. It is an historic building and the office will be located on street level with the parking lot right outside the door. When we get a big sign out front, we will be visible to everyone coming through the city on
I-40.

We plan to have a Yard Sale in the parking lot on June 13th from 8am-5pm and are accepting donations for the sale at the office June 8-12 between 10am-6pm. We can also use "clean-up" help at the office that week and help manning the sale on the 13th. As we are downtown in the Old City, we plan on participating with other galleries, businesses, and organizations in the First Friday events. Our goal is to have Open House during First Friday on July 3rd. Lofty goal perhaps, but that's what we are shooting for!

Though the Yard Sale is a fundraiser for the office, we are going to need more financial support and are asking those who can to go to knoxdemocrats.org and make a monthly donation of $10 or $20 a month to help cover the cost of having a permanent office. We have a lot of work to do and we need everyone's help. Thank you so much for all you do!
