A few items of interest from TNDP Chair Chip Forrester:

• The new website launch is going well. They are seeing lots of signups and new groups forming. It will continue to evolve and change, with the goal of being a repository for everything going on in the Democratic Party across the state.

• The county reorganization process is complete as of this past Saturday. There is a lot of new blood coming on board, including folks who were active in the Obama campaign. Three counties (Moore, Sequatchie, and Humphreys) did not reorganize, leaving those counties with no official party organization. State and party rules provide for the state party to intervene. Sylvia Woods will be involved in an effort to recruit party activists to form new party organizations in those counties.

• Plans for the Summit Meeting (May 2nd and 3rd in Monteagle) are shaping up. There are already over a hundred registrations, and there are a number of invitations out to elected officials and others. There will be a gubernatorial candidate forum at noon on Saturday. Senate Democratic Caucus Chair Roy Herron and House Democratic Caucus Chair Mike Turner are also confirmed. More details here. The Executive Committee will meet, and there will be a meeting of county party chairs.

• The DNC is providing additional state party funding, and the TNDP will be looking to fill two positions. One is "new media director," which for now will also handle traditional communications director duties in addition to growing the TNDP's online outreach. The second is an operations director to handle day-to-day party business.

I am excited about the new website and the Summit. I appreciate the open and inclusive spirit of the party under Chip's leadership and believe it is spreading across the state. The Summit is for all democrats, so I hope everyone with an interest takes part. It is time for ALL counties to come together to learn and share ideas. I plan to make this a camping trip if anyone else is interested! Please feel free to sign up on the Knox County Democratic Party group on the new TNDP.org site.
