Gov. Bredesen's Cover Tennessee insurance program passed in the Senate by a vote of 31-1. The final bill did not include GOP "tort reform" provisions, or a GOP amendment to require insurance companies to bear all the risk which would have effectively killed the bill.

So what have we learned? People are tired of right-wing rhetoric and wary of the failed right-wing agenda. They want real solutions. Their representatives are listening, even Republicans.

This was also a humiliating defeat and an embarrassing failure of leadership for GOP goobernatorial candidate Jim Bryson, who tried to kill a program which clearly has broad, bipartisan support. He also tried to hijack the bill for the benefit of Republican controlled special interests, and that failed too -- in the Republican controlled Senate no less. I guess this is a preview of how he would govern. It isn't pretty. Isn't this the same guy who said just last week that he is a gifted leader?

There was a lot of blustering from the right-wing conservatives about the bill. Expect a lot of blubbering when it sails through the House and the Governor signs it.

Yeah, apparently Bredesen's

Yeah, apparently Bredesen's plan "got back up." In fact, it never fell, or even stumbled.

So much for Sen. Bryson's leadership

This defeat pretty much defines Sen. Bryson's race for governor, don't you think?

Take Care, Be Good and don't play in the street!

That's what I'm thinking.

That's what I'm thinking. Looks like he stumbled right out of the gates.

What happened?

I learned at this site just a few days ago that Bredesen's proposal was a legislative failure.  And that Bredesen was a failed leader.

Interesting.  Now where did that post go?

Brian A.
I'd rather be cycling.

Bredesen's Reform Package Is Falling And It May N...
It appears that Governor Bredesen's reform of TNCare, Cover Tennessee is in trouble. It is amazing the Governor was doing NOTHING until he received a credible opponent, then he tries to push his TNCare v.2.0 through. Opps. It is not working. Our Governor has failed YOU.

That sounds familiar doesn't it? It should! It was posted by our very own Brian Hornback here at Knoxviews. Looks like he needs to reboot his GOP v2.0 or at least reload v1.0, especially given the recent spate of data corruption in his posts!

Anyone else here Cheney is going to be in town this weekend? Walmart and Target are out of orange hunting vests.....

Cover Tennessee

The House voted on Cover Tennessee last night. One of the 16 Republicans voting no on this was Representative Campfield. Earlier this year, when he appeared on Inside Tennessee, he voiced a different opinion. It just shows how republicans are fighting for the people when the camera or mic is near and when things come to a vote, they vote against the people --not for them.

You mean he was for it before

You mean he was for it before he voted against it?  Heh.  I won't pass up the easy pitches.
