It's hard to know what to make of this piece regarding Secretary of State Clinton's trip to the far east.

Clinton has unleashed the ebullient public persona she showed in the final giddy stages of her unsuccessful 2008 campaign.

The tone of Clinton's diplomatic charm offensive was a significant departure from the traditional approach of some previous secretaries of state, who were on the road a great deal but tended to be more comfortable in private settings than out in public.

the grueling pace has exhausted her traveling staff and local embassy employees, not to mention the reporters accompanying her on the trip.

The State Dept.'s "efficient team of transcribers" can't keep up.
Have they set aside any stimulus money to hire more transcribers?

Maybe what they are trying to say is, there is once again someone in the position that knows what they are doing, likes their job, works hard, has lots of energy, and will hopefully rebuild US diplomatic relations with the rest of the world.

Ebullient

You are more charitable than I. It stikes me as the kind of reporting you'd see in the 60s or 70s where a female executive might be described as a "vivacious blonde" when you'd never see such personal info on her male counterparts.

Always consider the source

Her predecessor, Condoleezza Rice, an academic, was far more reserved and less effusive, while Colin Powell, a retired general and President George W. Bush's first secretary of state, was a portrait in stoic, genteel statesmanship.

Like there's a comparison that can be made with a Bush sycophant. How was it Dubya phrased it about the lowered bar of expectations? The State Department suffered greatly under an administration that believed diplomacy came only from the barrel of a gun.

I love how Susan Rice and others say it, "the US is back and determined to reclaim the mantle of leadership ...". You know that's gotta make Condi and others from the Imperial Military reign cringe.

I will never trust the media to give Hillary anywhere near a fair or unbiased report. The Clintons are absolutely hated by the Village people.
